As some of you may have read I had a very disappointing appointment with my last rheumy who basically dischared me before I even got in the room. My previous rheumy (I saw him once) had left the hospital to work abroad. When I saw him he said I had extensive inflammation of the sacroilliac joint, some sclerosis and other irregularities (all seen on xray). He said he was sending me for an mri and then we would discuss his findings furthur at my next appointment. Sooo, went for second appointment after mri and because he had left I saw another rheumy who basically couldn't care less. She said the mri came back "ok" and put everything down to fibro. I questioned her about the previous rheumy's findings and she just said "well" with a shrug of the shoulders and that was that, no explaination whatsoever. Then I showed her some swelling on my ankles and she said it was probably due to my weight (ten stone wet through lol) and that is when I left, very frustrated and very angry. Anyway, I made an appointment to see my gp about this and where we go from here. I explained about the first rheumy's findings and then about the second rheumy's brush off and to cut a very long story (45 minute appointment with me blubbering) short he is sending me to another hospital for a second opinion, he is requesting a report from the radiographer (xray people) because he is curious as to what they saw because there was obviously things showing up on xray and he wanted ALL the details of what date, time, name of the second rheumy to make an official complaint about my lack of care (his words) so all in all I feel alot better and maybe this time I'll get the care I need. He also put me on stronger codeine (30mg instead of 15mg) and put my amys up from 20mg to 30mg.

Anyhoo I hope you are all enjoying this gorgeous sunshine and it's easing things a little x Dee x

I am pleased that your GP is doing this for you so I hope you soon have a better response to your case and needs than you have had so far. The increase in dullers and amytryp may help too - my fingers are crosssed. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Thanks DD and hope you are feeling better.

All I really want is an explaination about what was seen on xray, things don't just disappear and she didn't actually deny that there was something there she just didn't give any answers!!! I honestly think that she had not looked at them(she had xray of hands up on screen when I went in and I didn't have any done on hands) until I questioned her. She didn't even know that the first rheumy had put me on diclofenac and a stomach protector until I mentioned that I could not tolerate them!!

Enjoy the sunshine x Dee x

    Thank you for your replies.....
mig....yes this gp is brilliant, he's one I've not seen before but well established in the practice.

Karen....welcome to this fantastic forum, you will always find someone here who is willing to answer any questions you have or just to give you a hug when needed.

Heleena....Oh believe me I have seen plenty in the medical profession who either do not believe or try to make light of something that really is a big thing to us or don't really give a damn. I have got a large lump on my ankle(front near bend) and everyone I have seen about it say they are not too concerned about it even though it hurts like crazy. They don't feel the pain so don't really care. I really do hope this one is different. Looking promising so far.

Take care and (((((hugs))))) to all who need them, gentle ones of course x Dee x

Hey DeeDee it great when you have a G.P who understands you and lets you talk without talking over you! I have a great G.P who listens to me. But reading other people's threads they are very few like ours we're the lucky ones! I know I have a tight hold of mine she's not going anywhere!! Hope your 2nd opinion is better and he/she helps sorts you out with better pain relief and after looking at the results of scans can help you better.
