Depending on how long your MRI is you should be okay.

I took a CD with me to listen to as the noise is quite loud.

The one thing that I found really hard to was the lying still! But I was only in there for 20mins.

Don't drive or operate any heavy machinery afterwards.

I've never been fed fully in to the tube because I have only had my knees scanned but I reckon if I was my eyes would be firmly closed. It is a noisy experience (my hospital offers headphones to dull the sound) but if you are having your neck scanned I don't know if that is going to be an option. It can be a little uncomfortable but just remind yourself that this is a procedure that will help the doctors to really see what is going on and that is for your benefit. I am sure all will be well and rest assured, we'll be thinking of you. Let us know how you get on, yes? Take care. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

You will be fine hun....the noise is quite loud but bearable. I was in an hour for mine but I had my whole spine and sacroilliac joint done aswell. The only thing I would say is take your pain meds before you go and time them to kick in when you're having the mri as the table/bed you lie on is really hard and can be painful on your joints. Let us know how you get on hun x Dee x

    hi Heather

I had the MRI for my neck. I was a little nervous going into the tunnel and decided to keep my eyes shut. I did take a CD, but they had a radio playing through the earphones so I opted to listen to that. But with the scanner being so noisy I could hardly hear the music anyway  so, I just lay there and pretended I was on a Spanish beach where the work men were working on the next hotel  and I have promised myself I will never go to that destination again

to be honest even though I was in about 25 min the scan didn't seem to take that long, and it wasn't as bad as I expected

    you will be fine

I will be thinking of you tomorrow

    Love Julie PF x :)

I had an MRI years ago after my disc went out. They did leave me over a year before they gave me one though :o .
It had eased off quite considerably by then but I was surprised and amazed at how much it showed up when the doctor showed me the pictures. The disc was still about a 3rd out - goodness knows how far out it was when I was at my worst.
I didn't have any problems with my neck then so spent the whole time with my head back as far as I could so that I could see out of the tunnel. (slightly clostrophobic).
I didn't find it painfully noisy, but they did give me headphones and music. I think they even asked me what sort of music I liked. I may even take my own music if I manage to get one when I go to the specialist - Rod Stewart or Queen I think :D .
