i havent been on this board for ages, hope everyone is well...
i thought i was doing really well, went on holiday. it felt for a while that i had nothing and not RA. even tried to kid myself i was misdiagnosed. i didnt take my meds (sulfa and hydroxy) for 2 days as i forgot.
the last few days i have been brought back down to reality....im having an awful flare, nodule on my hand kills and has got bigger, my whole body is in pain, my hands and wrists are on fire it feels. it hurts to even walk and i never really felt that before. just everything hurts and im so tired, unbelievably tired. taken all the painkillers i can, and it still feels the same. :(
cant take time off work.
is there anything i can do?

If not taking the meds caused the flare then, hopefully, taking them will gradually reduce it. I fully understand the 'feeling OK, forget about meds' thing but we have to bear in mind that the OK feeling is probably a direct result of the meds. It can be very hard, in the early years, to keep reminding oneself that, no matter how good one feels, the disease is still there.

If you feel you'll need more paindullers over the Bank Holiday then get it organised now while you can.

I hope things will ease up for you soon.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Bubbles are fragile things as you are finding out. It must be easy to forget to take meds when one is feeling better but it is essential that the routine is maintained as they are important in quelling the disease activity. All you can do now is rest as much as possible - hopefully you have four days of no work on the horizon so make sure you kick back and loll around. Your body needs to rest, keep up with the meds and dullers and I hope that things soon improve. DD

having read the previous posts, i totally agree. hopefully you can get some rest when you are not in work and that the flare dulls down a bit once you are back on your meds.
i am a terrible person for not remembering my painkillers when im feeling ok, then i soon remember why i was feeling ok because of the meds! im only on paracetamol at the moment but i must get into the routine of taking them when due when i start the new meds.

i hope you manage to get some relief over the weekend and the pains ease a little xx

    Hello Louise.

I am so sorry things are so difficult for you at the moment.

Hopefully you can rest up over the long weekend if you are not working. That is, in my experience, about the only thing you can do when a proper flare strikes. If things still aren't any better by next week Louise, my suggestion would be to call the rheumatology dept for advice.

    Thinking of you.

    Oh Louise

Denial that's waht you were in and reality is back grrrr!!!

My suggestion is get back on your meds and hopefully in time things will get back under control for you.

If not then you have to try to get hold of your rheumatology team who may be able to arrange a depot steroid jab to help out.

    I am so sorry Louise.

    Love and hugs

    Hi Louise
I suppose that says how good your meds are working, it does make it dificult being a bank holiday weekend, but when you can I would see if your GP could give you a steroid injection to get you over the worse, I do hope things improve very soon.
    You take care xx
    Love
