Sorry, val. The only time I've ever had a problem there was once when I missed the dining chair and sat down hard on the floor. I think it was just a matter of paindullers, gritting my teeth and time. Are you sure it's the coxis? I just don't see how hard work would make it sore. If it's simply lower back then I guess the usual - rest, gentle exercise and pain relief. Bad timing though. I hope it lets you enjoy the Bank Holiday.

The coccyx is a tricky area to deal with as trouble with it can make life very uncomfortable - as you are finding out. :( I guess the usual rules apply: try heat, try cold, rest, take the dullers and if things don't improve then go to your GP. Poor you, what a bummer. DD

(Thanks for the spell check on coccyx, DD. My mind went blank. No change there, then  .)

My first attempt was cocxyx but that kinda looked wrong so (given how I make my living) I had to go and look it up - it's not every day one writes that word. DD

i get lots of pain there too. thought it was just me. it only flares up now and then, i have spells where it doesnt bother me but when its flaring up, i cant even sit on a soft cushion. ive tried heat pads, they do ease it a little but not much. for me its just a case of moving a little constantly so it doesnt ache x

I've just remembered that you can actually buy coccyx cushions at disability shops - probably also on the big S American river store. They are circular with a hole in the middle to relieve pressure.

This joint I have some knowledge of!! Well Val the coccyx is our 'tail joint' at the bottom of our spine. I was walking back to my work after lunch one day and wasn't looking where I was going and slipped on some dis-guarded pizza and landed flat on my back. I don't remember from flying in the air or to waking up in hospital. The doctor showed me my X-Ray and told me I had broke my coccyx and it was floating. I still get a lot of pain from around there. So it is a delicate joint. So there's a little knowledge on it. Hope your pain eases very soon for you.

    Hi Val

I had this problem a couple of years ago , i do not think Arthur has visited this part of my body .You can try stretching exersizes .Sitting on the loo is the best place and then try to touch you toes .Or lying in bed flat , bring your knees up to your tummy and feel the stretch .If not get back to the doctor and see if your local hospital has back classes .This helped me alot .You also get to meet other people with similar probs .The course is for 6 weeks .I only suggest this as i would not like you to do any more damage to your back .
