Hi Everyone,

Could anyone tell me if they have bruising for no reason around arthritic joints on fingers and thumbs....is this normal?

Thank you
Angilee

Hi Angilee. Please don't take my word for this as I'm not a doc but, to the best of my knowledge, arthritis doesn't cause bruising. However, if you have an auto-immune type, some of the meds can. If you think it might be meds I'd get it checked out when you can. I guess it might just be that, if your knuckles etc are swollen, you're banging them on things.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

If you do a google lots of pages about RA and bruising from the medication.

    Hope this is helpful.
How come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?

    Hi Angilee,

The arthritis doesn't normally do that lone but some meds can. Really though you need to just get it checked out flower. I hope it will be a lot easier for you tomorrow but please run it past a doc or NHS Direct to be on the safe side. Cris x

I agree with the others - better safe than sorry eh? Sure it's nothing to worry about. :) but no harm ringing NHS direct.

Hi Angilee, I bruise very easily, my legs are covered in bruises at the moment and there are a couple of beauties on my arm! I tease my OH that I could say he caused them if he doesn't get me a treat! But after 12yrs of it he knows better!! Mine come easily from a slight knock or tap. I think my meds may be part cause but I know from having Osteo-porosis it's a part of the problem.

I bruise all the time and the meds are behind it. I take sulph, meth and humira, I think the sulph is the main culprit because when I started it I was black and blue from the waist down. DD
