Do they really work?
Glucosamine
cod liver oil
chondroitin
MSM
I have been taking these for around a year now and initially I did think they were working, I certainly had less knee creaks.
But more recently I am not convinced they are working at all. I am so stiff some days and my knees certainly crick and crack with lots of swelling if I do too much. My hands have never really changed since starting to take them.
I want to take a break to see if they are making a difference but fear that if I stop taking them and I have more pain it will take months to get back into my system.

How come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?

Its one of those catch two really , sometimes you think they are not working till you stopped them, the only ones I have carried on with are the cod liver oil, if nothing else its good for the skin.
I did have a dog that was on cod liver oil from being a puppy, and he was 16 when he died, didnt do him any harm he could walk for miles.Love

I take a few things, do they help? Good question to be honest I'm not sure. Its more about me wanting to control this blooming thing? I'm veg so I take a multi - vit and some vitamin C. After I started taking it I noticed my skin healed up a lot quicker. I had caught (lord knows how) scabies  Doc said my be to do with being low?
So I'm sorry no real answer for you, but its all worth a try?
Also using essential oils in my shower - lovely (and with this one lots cheaper than shower gel). Mix it with aqueous or E45 its easy to find the ones which are 'good' for arthritis.0 -
I take a variety of supplements including the ones your taking...I can't say they deal with my pain because it can be very extreme! (I have RA) but I do believe they help with my energy levels and help healing on a deeper level within soft tissues and cells of our bodies. For the price of the supps you are taking I would keep them up as they are not that expensive really. Seven Seas Cod Liver is in my view (and my Nutritionalists) the best product. The black and Red box for £6.40. It has high EPA values (what were all after) and extra Vit A, D and E. Its liquid form but easily taken with a little apple juice. If you want a fantastic book that hits the spot on Nutritional diet and suppps for all types of Arthritis then get Patrick Holfords 'Say No to Arthritis'. Trust me, as I've tried every book out there on RA and this is the best....its changed my recent thinking from hopelessness to committing to a long term stand against my awful condition...try it!0

Thanks for your imput everyone. I have ordered that recommended book.
Maybe I will keep taking them. I agree about skin being better since taking them. My nails are incredibly strong too.
thanks againHow come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?0 -
I got osteoporosis and osteoarthritis, if I do not take my tablet for osteoporosis I get dreadful pains from arthritis they are both interlinked. It is possible that people may have osteoporosis and not know about it, unless GP send patients for a scan. I have to take vitamins for osteoporosis calcium combined vit D.0
