Hello everyone
I just want to say that I am feeling really so much better today.
I've had a bit of a rough ride the last few weeks both emotionally and physically and it has been wonderful to share some of your time, advice and comments on this forum.
It reminds me that there are brighter days and it is not all doom and gloom.
The nerve pain in my legs has eased a bit now which is such a joy, I just have to keep myself in check a bit now and try not to do too much too soon.
I'm off for my pre-op today for foot and ankle surgery - hopefully I'll find out a little more about post-op rehab etc.
Thanks to you all for keeping my (several) chins up.
Clanky

Hi clanky thanks for saying so, this lot are such a great bunch aern't they, I remember when I first time I came on here I was all on me own I was really low and thought no one could understand how I felt then I found this Oasis and it really made a big difference for me, they supported me through times of pain and depression and the advice is always a simple post away these days.
Anyway let us know how you get on, best of luck and hope to hear from you soon.

You are more than welcome, clanky, it's our pleasure. We all struggle from time to time and the forum is a great place for support and encouragement. I saw a wonderful Garfield cartoon recently, I hope I can explain it!

Picture 1. Jon drinking from a mug and saying 'This has been a good day.'

Picture 2. Jon smiling and Garfield thinking 'It has?'

Picture 3. Jon still smiling and Garfield thinking 'Man, I should have been paying attention.'

Goood luck with the pre-op appointment. DD

    Hi Clanky
May I ask what ankle surgery are you likely to have (underwent ankle surgery myself last year)

    Hi Clanky

    Hi Ron,
I'm ashamed to say I'm no entirely sure. I saw consultant 6 months ago but due to illness in the family which was totally occupying my time and thoughts didn't follow it up.
They've put me back on the waiting list and I will see the consultant again next visit. Yesterday turned out to be just weight, height etc.
I have fallen arches (as many of us do) but also foot turns out and tilts so needs to be turned and realigned with the ankle. Hopefully this will help my balance and reduce pain
They said that it is often done using epidural but because of my spinal issues will probably be unable to do this.
What did you have done Ron and how was the recovery for you? I'm not sure what to expect.

    Hey all,
Thanks for your replies. Yesterday turned out to be just about height, weight, blood pressure etc. and I will go again to meet OTs and consultant closer to operation date.
I was a little disconcerted by the height though - I demand a recount!! According to them I am now 5ft 4" which means that somewhere I have lost 2.5 inches in height. Who has it? I want it back. :?
On the bright side I realise that I'm not getting fatter at all!!! I am merely getting squashed into a more oval shape.

wonderful way to look at it hun lol...
I've lost about two inches in height over the past however many years it's been.. Told it could only be the spine...
Mell knows what a shortarse I am.. But I'm a lot arder than him lol..
Best wishes for the op when the day comes and I'm pleased you're feeling better mi dear :D
