Hello- I havent posted for a while but am pleased to report the Methotrex is having a positive effect on my psoriasis. Not making a difference to my PA tho- Im about to go in to have keyhole surgery to remove large bone spurs and bursitis in my shoulders. They were the source of incredible pain in October and have reacted well to 3 injections. The pain is a fraction of what it was and I do have forward movement in my arms but as I am still having pain both day and nightime and have limited movement. Difficulty moving my arms backwards so I have decided to have the Op. Its surprising how it affects you- things you take for granted-cant put a coat on or do up my bra without pain and difficulty. Also raising arms above head is hopeless- cant clean my windows either- no circular movements possible! Has anyone else had this op? Id be interested to hear because the guy looking after my shoulders has said that as I have PA throuhout my body and its in my shoulders , he doesnt know how successful the op will be. He had hoped I would respond better to methox but as I havent Ive opted to have them done.I am told recovery will be 3 to 6 months depending on how well I do. Thanx

    Hi Deb

I am so sorry I have no personal experience of this op. I had afriend who had an arthroscopy of her shoulder??? If that's similar :?

She was off work about 4 months, the pain of the op was no worse than the pain she had anyway. She is glad she had it done :) .

    VERY best of luck

    Love

Thanks for replies- :D yes I think its called arthroscopy surgery- glad to hear pain no worse- thats reassured me because that was my worry-should I have it done? will I be worse off??!!! I think i read too much on internet-frightened me to death-have to stick to reputable sites like this one in future! I also know I have an excellent surgeon. Its my right shoulder so id better start learning to brush my teeth with my left hand! ops on 6 July. This site is great because Ive also found it difficult doing simple things like peg out washin- great tips from people who live with same problems and all tried and tested! x

had surgery on my right shoulder fri to remove bone spurs and bursitis. I have had an incredible amount of pain-far worse than the pain from the spurs and up to tday regretted having the op. However the hospital upped my meds to include morphine I at least now have short periods pain free-have been warned may get frozen shoulder and as im still in a sling unable to move and having difficulty doing the physio exercises im worried that ill get it. Im trying hard to do the exercises and guess its too soon to have frozen shoulder-im just so stiff! Anyone thinkin of having this op needs to make sure you come home prepared for the pain but very importantly -to come home :D with adequate painkillers! Heres hoping ive made the right decision!

i too have the problems you do and was put on list for shoulder replacement and or removal of spurs etc. what i was advised to do was to tolerate the pain for as long as i could as it may prevent me being able to drive in the future, despite greater (hopefully) mobility.

driving is a key factor for me so im not going with the op but they do seem to be quite the thing these days and more succesful outcomes.

hope all goes well for you x

    Oh Deb

I am so sorry - sometimes I don't think we do get given good enough pain relief post-op :(

What I can tell you is that after my back op I bitterly regretted having it done for a good while (and I do mean a good while and was had to have oramorph post op). I do NOT regret it now though I hope that in time you will feel the same.

    Love and hugs

Hi. Hope the pain starts to ease soon. Someones these procedures we go through can really cause terrible pain. We just have to hope that when that pain wears off that the original pain is gone.. I still have a fair bit of pain from the nerves being burnt over a week ago lol
I alsop have spurs (surgeon called them osteophytes) in my lower spine..

    Best wishes
