Do you suffer more when ill?

Hi, just wondering if your aches and pains get worse when you get a cold or virus/bug.
Felt a bit off for the last few days and woke up feeling like a zombie this morning with a sore throat, neck and general face ache.
Now I'm achy and keep getting pains in my left hip (one of the areas I get pains in quite often).
This is quite normal for me when ill and I was wondering if the same is true for others?

Hi You
I think its one of the problems many of us suffer though you never said whats wrong with you. I think the low immune system and use of so many meds makes us more vulnerable to catching stuff and fighting it off.
Take care hope your feeling better soon

Mine's RA and I was always told that, with any of the auto-immune varieties, anything that raises the temperature can often make the disease worse. It stands to reason that, If your body's working hard to get rid of an infection, it doesn't have the resources to deal with the RA too. Go easy until things get better, youlemming. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Sorry I didn't say, the doc suspects RA (assuming that means Rheumatiod). Have blood tests tomorrow.0

Make sure your doc knows you have/did have some sort of infection when having your bloods taken. I don't know what tests they will do but for some it's just possible you might get false readings. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Poor you, feeling poorly and then having to deal with the RA on top I agree with you though, I'm far far worse when I'm poorly, it causes a flare up.
I hope you feel better soon0 -
Hi Youlemming,
Not sure what the technical answer is but certainly I feel worse.
I hope the bloods will help them to decide but remember some don;t show in bloods so it might be worth asking to be sent to see a rumo anyway. Fingers crossed you soon fell better and a flare can feel a bit like fluey though not full blown flu. Nice to meet you. Cris x0 -
Thanks for your replies and the tip on letting the doctor know, didn't think about how it might affect the results.0

Hello youlemming,
Sorry you're not feeling too well. I've got a stomach bug right now and my joints are flaring big time. I usually find that my joints are worse when I'm ill. It really doesn't seem fair, does it?
Hope your blood tests go well and take good of yourself.0 -
i think you do suffer more when you are ill without a doubt.
i take rosehip 750 mg x 3 once a day. i swear that these have stopped me getting any of the bugs flu or sickness that is both seasonal and random.
ive always had a strong immune system and since dx was warned that i would probably catch everything going. what i have had is waking up feeling like im getting the flu but then a few hours later these sensations are gone.
i remember as a kid pinching the rosehip syrup my mum got for my baby brother from the leath clinic but that isnt easily found nowadays. i did see similar but the price was extortionate.
sainburys do 3 for the price of 2 on rosehip and the tubs are £3.99 each. lasts ages.
not sure what other people have experienced who take rosehip but its kept me flu and cold free (probably )0 -
I gave up with rosehip as it did little to help with anything at all but we are all different in what helps. I stay flu-free thanks to an annual flu jab, I do catch the odd cold but I try to minimise the risk of that with reasonably thorough hygiene. I know that everything becomes a little more of an effort when I am under the weather but that is hardly surprising seeing as how my immune system is suppressed with the meds. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi, Hope everyone that has also been suffering over the last week are on the mend.
Things seem to be clearing up after peaking yesterday, had quite a busy day with parents coming over (they live about 90 mile away) with the large wooden wendy house my dad built when my little sister was young and also a climbing frame so helped and got stuck in putting them up which prob wasn't the best idea.
Ended up with a horrid head ache and feeling really fluy so went to bed before 9pm and didn't get up till 9am, even though the little one was up around 6.30 she went downstairs with her dad close to 8 so I got in another hr.
Oh well back to work tomorrow, at least it will keep my busy till I go back to GP on Fri, really hope the results say something one way or the other and not inconclusive.0 -
Hi ,glad your feeling a little better today and hope you get some answers from your doctor0
