Not dumb at all. It's something that puzzles most of us when we first come here. It basically works like this:

I have a doc's appt. I'm scared. I ask for pocket duties. Several members of the forum promise to be with me, in my pocket, on the day for moral support. Strength in numbers and all that. Hope this helps.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Pocket duties were skezier's idea - like a good many on here she is coping alone and thought that the virtual presence of 'those in the know' would help people get through appointments etc, so we all pitch up with various comestibles and pets to offer our cyber support. I usually bring virtual strawberries and fizz. It is a lovely way to let people know they are being thought about and remembered on the more difficult days. DD

ah ok now i know lol
i can help people with those scary moments of appointments as they dont bother me in the slightest.

i can be that crazy woman in your pocket with baskets of fruit, with a million questions to ask and get the doctors head in a fizz.

i did used to worry about the time i was taking up with consultants doctors etc but then didnt give a toss. this is my life, my questions, my concerns and desire for knowledge to empower myself

if you are fearful of any process or whatever, tell them this and the doctors themselves will reassure you. lots of people just say nothing whilst being in moments of near terror. YOU DONT HAVE TO SUFFER ALONE, ever!

    Hi
Yes its our bodies and our lives.......most of us make lists of what we need to say before we go.....I take OH in to these appts with me because I'm so busy thinking about what I have to ask/say that what they say doesnt always sink in.....good to have an extra pair of ears.

i tend to go alone - some of the deep questions i ask get some rather freaky scary answers and other people can panic a bit...i then try to find ways to tell others the same info in the most undramatic way. other people going into panic mode does not make me feel better.
