Val, you can suffer mouth problems with some types of arfur. Our immune sytems are wonky, and will cause havoc anywhere. I have had a couple of large swellings in my mouth and the dentist said it was part of the sjorgens. Speak to your dentist.0

Hi.....eek...dentists...i dont know if its the arther or not but you have all my sympathy... tooth ache a dreadful thing...my dentist always blames my fibro...so it might have something to do with it..anyway i hope your discomfort goes off and that you dont have to go back...

I've never thought of dental problems being part of arthritis, Val, though I know a dentist once told me that one of my meds (hardly ever used now) could cause problems. I guess all you can do is go there and ask. By the way, the best painduller for toothache is n**r*ph*n. I got that from NHS Direct once, when I had an abcess, and they were spot on. Check with the pharmacist though about potential clashes with other meds.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I do get occasional wisdom teeth ache, and that goes on for a few days all the wisdom teeth ache! I feel like a baby again and want to get something and bite on it. It is horrible and I do think it's part of arther it's another bone and nerve. I hope it eases soon other wise you will have to go and see the 'D' word!0

Hi Val,
Have you asked your dentist whether there's a connection between your meds and your tooth troubles, he or she would probably be able to tell you?
Toothache is just awful and because it's nerve pain I find that when I have it my pain meds aren't a lot of help. Have you tried a warm wheat bag on your face that can be comforting?
Hope you get seen soon.

Your dentist should know about whether or not to stop any meds, Val, but, to be on the safe side, I’d check with the pharmacist too. Hope it all goes well.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Val
Hope you are better today.
Have to say I am shocked that arthur (the sticky thread was very helpful, I now know that arthur is arthritis= yay i feel all educated!) can be the reason for toothache and abscesses, not sure if you are saying that arthur is the cause or the cause is a side effect of some meds?
I am not on any meds except lisinopril for high blood pressure.
I had a second tooth extracted a few weeks ago after a severe abscess which had me chewing co codo and counting the hours till i could take more, usually when i get an abscess they are not very painful.
Interesting note is that the painkillers got rid of the toothache but never touched the pain in my knees!
My dentist would not extract my tooth until the abscess had been treated with anti bots, hope you have got treatment and are on the mend.Best joke I ever read, "With that information and a diagnosis of spondylosis, your doctor can develop a treatment plan" or back in reality totally ignore you. Is ok I have a sense of humour and a boxing glove, not defeated yet.0 -
