I was in the waiting room and Mr Horrible poked his nose out and shouted for someone....sounded as horrible as he has before  A few minutes later a lady shouted for me....FANTASTIC....dont know if she was a registrar or what???? but dont care either
Her diagnosis was different to his. She says its dry eyes and excema :?: :?:
She says she can see small patches of excema on both eylids.....the right more than the left....it is the one that is worse.
So her prescriptions are Celluvisc.....little phials to be broken and one drop in each eye, Lacri-lube thats the gooey stuff and steroid cream to be put on my eyelids to hopefully clear the excema.
The other thing was eye hygiene......Quite a rigmarole.....bathing them for 5mins in hot sterile water, then washing the lids with baby shampoo, then massaging under they eyes and eventually using cool sterile water
Well I'm going to have to fit that into my routine someway
So pleased not to have seen him.....got to go back in 3 months time.

    Hi Hileena

I know how dismissive the can be, I have Glaucoma and in the early days was worried, so turned upat emergency Eye Clinic only to be sent off with a flea in my ear cos it was Blepharitis ( a buldup of oils in the eyelid).....how was i to know that?

Am so very pleased for you that it went so well :-) now you know what it is i guess your mind must be a bit at rest
A lot to fit into your routine, lets hope it pays off xx

Well, that should keep you out of mischief for a while each day, Hileena  A bit of a faff but at least some proper treatment – not to mention a nice doc. Good. I’m glad it went well.

    Hi Sticky
You're right....I'm trying to get some sort of a routine sorted out.
    Its not working
I'll give it a full day tomorrow and see how it goes.....but as you say what with that, anti inflamms, paracetamol, anti convulsant, and omneprozol etc....will i have time to do anything else
It was great having this lovely little doc.....especially since she had some other ideas....his wern't working. It would be great if I saw her in 3 months time again...not him....Oh well...worry about that closer to the time

Ah, eczema on the eyelids - happy days! My skin used to split on the crease of the eyelid / brow bit, strewth that hurt. :( I found the only thing that would clear it up was Betnovate, a topical steroid cream - I wasn't supposed to use it on my eyes but the eye cream the doc gave me was rubbish. The new routine sounds a bit of a faff but if it helps then that is what counts. Do you wear mascara etc? It may be best to give that a miss for a while, that can set things off. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

    Hi Cris
    Thinking of you...

DD.....it is a lot of faff  but if it stops these tears I can put up with anything.....I'll get into a rountine eventually.
I tend to wear eyeshadow but havent while they have been so bad, Mascara and eyeliner....that is a rare occasion so its no problem not wearing those  I fact any freebies or anything like that I get......the mascara goes to Sarah {daughter} she appreciates it.

    Hileena

Sound like the woman doc was helpful...As for the rigmarole well i know about that, can use body lotion on my tops of thighs, tops of arms, but nowhere else as get a horrid rash! Also having to put good old aqueous on chest then steroid cream and all in between get skin peeling!
Why not try good old aqueous, its very good on lots of skin problems and is as cheap as chips?

    Good luck

    Hello Hileena

Belatedly  just wanted to say I am so pleased you had a good appt and saw a NICE doctor! Also that you seems to have a diagnosis which makes more sense and some "stuff" to use which seems to be helping. I have never been advised on the "cleaning rituals" but am well aware of the rigmarole of eye drops and mucky eye creams. And despite using Lacriblube every few minutes in the day and several times each night I still haven't mastered the technique of getting the stuff IN my eyes, rather than everywhere else! So if you get the hang of it - and have any good tips please let me know  Anyway, really glad it went well and hope it continues to help you.

    Oh Tilly
I wish I had got the hang of the lacra-lube.....I would gladly tell you
The other thing I find hard are these drops. I can use the ones in little bottle but these have about 4 drops in one little plastic thing....got to use one drop in each eye, then get rind og the rest and so on and so on ...4 times a day. I keep missing my eye
I havent checked online but if you google blepharitis you might get the eye hygiene pages she gave me. I think it does help.
Let me know if you have any tips
    Love

So we are both in the same boat with the Lacrilube then Hileena! I tend to end up with it clogging my eyelashes and running down my face! As for the little tubes, they sound like my steroid eye drops and I find them difficult too. What I do now is to stand in front of the mirror, pull down the bottom of my eye and, without tilting my head, drop one drop (hopefully) into the gap behind the bottom eyelid (if that makes sense). If I try just to aim for the middle of my eye I miss every time! Thanks for the tip on the blepharitis website - will have a look.

    Love Tillyxxx
