Hi all, as some of you know i have been going through a bad flare up since march, i had a steroid injection 4-5 weeks ago and then everything got worse with new pains everyday.
Over the last 4 nights when i go to bed i am wide eyed for hours and am only getting a few hours sleep but its not been due to the pain i have just been feeling energetic, over the last 24-48hours my pain and swelling has almost gone and i even managed to do some work on the car today
Does anyone know if it can take a while for the steroids to kick in or do they start working straight away?
cheers

Hey Chris. Sounds to me like they are starting to work. I have RA and i find that they work pretty much straight away,, but its probably different for everyone like most things arthur. although some dont last as long as others. Doc dosent like me having to many, either. Have to fight with him a bit!

Hi
Whenever I have had an intramuscular steroid, it is normally taken just a couple of days to take effect.
I am glad that you're steroid has eventually kicked in and you are now feeling the benefit.
Take care not to overdo it

It depends on the person, but mine usually start to work within a couple of days.
But you do have to rest afterwards. I made the mistake the last time of not resting and was in pain for a few weeks.
This time I rested for 48 afterwards and it worked straightaway.
They are a godsend for me.0 -
It sounds as though it's working for you and that's good news. It can take time to kick in, it is not usually 'instant'. I hope it lasts! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I am so pleased it looks like it has worked for you
Some people do find it a long time before they kick in. You enjoy this time eh?
