If my das score gets to the 5.1 needed before you can go on tnfs is there one that is usually tried first or is it a question of which your consultant thinks will work best for you?Mig

It's been so long since I began I'm not sure I can accurately recall. My first was infliximab and I think that was because the finance for that was reasonably easy for my rheumatologist to secure. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hello Mig
Like DD my first was Infliximab but I think that's because it was the only one available at that time. From what I have read here it seems that these days the consultants sometimes give people information about a couple of options and give them the choice. I'm sure cost comes into it somewhere though and it may be that the self administered ones like Humira and Enbrel are cheaper than the hospital administered ones like Infliximab which may influence the choices given. I don't think there is a "set order" though, in terms of which are tried first - although I know that my current one, Rituximab, is only NICE approved for use after failure of one of the others.
Obviously I am not wishing your arthritis worse Mig but in one sense I hope you do get a high enough "score" to qualify so you have a chance to see if one of the biologics helps you.

Hi Mig,
Can't help but just wanted to say i hope what ever they put you on will work and work well.
Also don;t look too far ahead re treatment as it can get scary when it doesn't have to be. What ever happens you will have folk here to help you and support you. Cris xx0 -

My pct made everyone start on Cimzia. I think this because the drug company doesn't charge for the first 3 months.0
