Went to physio yesterday it is now 10weeks since the THR. my hip is great. BUT the problem I had with the knee is still there and there has been little change to the bend since starting physio she doesn't think I will ever get more than 70% bend and that is with her holding it back. So I won't be going back she is writing to Consultant telling him I still have the problem with the knee and it's up to him what happens next. I can put up with it not bending but I still have a lot of pain in the knee requiring quite a bit of medication still. Has any one else had a problem like this. You have the hip done to alleviate pain in the knee which was replaced 4 years ago and it doesn't work do they do another TKR ??

Sorry to hear you are still having knee problems Wendygro. When your knee was done 4years did physio not advise your surgeon that the bend was not good then. He could have then possibly done a manipulation, that might have solved the bend problem. As it is to late now he may offer to do a revision.Iam 6 weeks post op with second tkr and my bend is 95 degrees, first knee only got 90degrees,still in a lot of pain to be expected for a while yet.I hope surgeon can help to sort out your knee as it is a lot to go through and not get a satisfactory outcome.Kind Regards.x

I'm afraid I don't know the answer, wendgro. For me, the bend wouldn't matter too much but the pain is a different thing. Does the physio think the pain will improve? When do you have a follow-up appt with the surgeon? he's the one to advise.

    Hi Wendgro
I am sorry to hear this you have done so well with the hip, I would have said maybe its referred pain from the hip, but if you haven't got the movement there must be something wrong, hopefully your consultant will enlighten you...I really do wish you well with it all xx
    Love

I am putting it out of my mind what the Consultant said the last time I saw him he said " I know what the problem is with the knee we will give physio therapy a go if that doesn't work we will look to doing the knee again he said something was loose or wobbling" he thought tightening the muscles around the knee would work and make it stable and youv'e guessed it , it hasn't worked so I am looking to have some sort of surgery again in the not too distant future. I can't keep taking quite a bit of medication it's not good but I have no alternative. Only people who have had hips knees or any type of inplant know what is going on my family try hard to understand but they don't. I get your walking the wrong way your sitting in the wrong chair do you really need your stick now and on and on at least I can let off steam on the website and people do understand Thanks Wendy x

I thnk this is still early days as yet, wendgro. Ten weeks sounds like a long time but in reality it isn't. Surely there is still some healing to be done, exercises to be carried out, resting too - it all takes time. As for the less than helpful comments from the family, well, they're not you and neither are they surgeons or physios. As for the stick comment, clout 'em with it and say 'Yes, I still need it to do THIS!' (whack!) DD
