What suits one person may not suit another Milly8, and as we are not doctors we cannot recommend. I too have 30/500 and they dull enough so I can get on with stuff but remove it altogether? No, the only thing I have found that does that is general anaesthetic. I have tramadol 50 mg and 100mg slow-release for the bad times and I do my best to keep them for that. Are you taking an anti-inflammatory at the moment? They can help with pain but you should also have a stomach protector too. DD

    Hi Milly

there are so many out there taht your GP will surely be able to suggest one to try.

I have tried non-steroid-anti-inflams: Ibuprofen, diclofenec and arcoxia

Pain killers: DF118s, Co codamols, co-dyrdamols, tramadol and now bu-trans patches

Also tried gabapentin for neuropathic pain.

Good luck for the GP appointment hope you get something else to try.

    Love

    Hi Milly

    Arcoxia is a newer Co2 inhibitor anti-inflam.

I take it because it does NOt upset bellies I think....worth a mention?

    Love and luck

    Hi Milly

Oromorph is currently my "drug of choice". It doesn't seem to upset my stomach and, being a liquid seems to be easily absorbed so starts to help fairly quickly. I have to say that I found co-codomol better overall for pain dulling but it really, really didn't agree with my stomach so for me it is a good compromise. The doc tells me too that Oromorph has less potential side effects than long term use of co-codamol and I have been told I can take it pretty much as I need so I don't find I am sitting looking at the clock waiting for the it to be time for the next dose (although I do try not to take it more often then 4 hourly cos I don't want to get used to it and find it is less effective).

I'm not able to take anti inlamms either at the moment so I am relying on oral steroids more than I would like - but maybe your doc might think that a short course of oral pred would perhaps tide you over until you get your longer term meds sorted. I know that steroid jabs don't seem to work for everyone but I think, from what I have read on the forum, that most people find that oral steroids help, if taken at an appropriate dose.

    Good luck Milly.

    Hi Milly
I am using Arcoxia that at 90mg a day did not effect my stomach. The doc has just increased this to 120mg and it has started to upset my stomach. Painkiller wise I am using Tramadol at the moment but they make me very very fuzzy to the point where I slur my words for a while. Codeine only dulls the pain for a while. I have also used Butrans patches and Fentynal patches. They made me very sick so I am sticking at the moment to the Tramadol. Hope this helps and good luck.
    Den.

Hello, have you been to the doc's yet? Pain relief is only transitory alas, and I am sure that we do get used to whatever we are taking - yet another complication, yes? DD
