I posted last week about the pain and stiffness in my back and hips mainly in the night which has gone on for about 20 yrs but the last 6 months ive not had a full night sleep due to the pain, you all said about going to the docs and i have to admit i was very scared so put it off another week until today!

Yesterday my little girl age 10 and me went jogging, weve not done this together before but shes a dancer and wants to build up stamina and im wanting to get fitter lol, anyway i could feel my back start twinging through the run and i knew it would be a bad night, it was horrendous, i was in so much pain so i decided that today i will get seen, with the strike i wasnt sure if our docs was open but it was :)

Anyway he examined me, had me bend and touch my toes and straighten up, the pain for me is much worse when i straighten up my back especially after sitting for a long time or being in bed, anyway he said its my fascet joint (sorry spelling) hes given me nabumetone to take at night, does anyone take these? I dont like taking new medication especially with having the kids to look after, i dont want to be zonked out or them make me ill as i cant take cocodomol or anything like that as it makes me really ill.

The doctor said that its better to have this joint as a problem as its easier to treat than a disc but would love to hear your views.

Thanks again feel a bit better now ive been seen although i did think they would send me for an xray just to check

Glad you made the appointment and went and saw your G.P. I think it's harder to make the appointment and sit in the waiting room than it is to see the G.P! It's all about the nerves. Bet you feel better for going now. And I'm happy you feel reassured now and have meds to help ease the pain, let us know how you get on with the meds and I'm glad you feel better for going.

Well done to you for plucking up the courage to go, I don't have the problem that you do but I hope the med helps - and perhaps consider taking things a little more gently too. Jogging with summat like that going on is probably not too good an idea, jogging of any sort is not very good for the lower joints, especially knees, as it is a high-impact activity. How about the two of you doing cycling or swimming? Both are good for building stamina but kinder to the joints. I wish you well. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben
