Firstly really sorry I've been Missing In Action for a while and how is everyone?

My news. The Good, The Bad, The Happy and The Sad.

Well my Internet died to start with. BT were as much use as a chocolate teapot and only if I was very lucky did I get an operative that could speak English marginally better than my Labrador! Finally it's kinda sorted. If we have heavy wind or heavy rain it's still flaky but at least it's working a bit.

Then I lost my lovely Catty. He was a Devon Rex with Burmese variant so looked Burmese and followed me like my shadow. Wherever I sat he was on my lap, if I was in the garden he was next to me. He got attacked by a stray and had a massive infection and we couldn't save him. Vet bill is £775 so god knows how we will pay it. I've never insured the cats only the dogs and horses so that's a lesson learnt.

Whilst at the vets there was the lady from the dog rescue home having 2 litters of puppies vaccinated and chipped. Yep you guessed it - welcome to Primrose, a Labrador x retriever 8 week old puppy. My husband arranged it all in secret, then told me we were going out to meet his work mates for lunch but instead we picked Primrose up. It was kinda fate I think because my old girly was called Daisy, my girly now is called Poppy and Primrose was already named plus she has the identical markings and colouring as Catty had, which were unusual in a cat. Fate?

From the good news to the bad again. I had a massive flare of pain in my left knee and got carted to hospital where I was doped up to the eyeballs with a massively swollen and excruciatingly painful knee. It turns out that it has collapsed onto itself and sideways so as you can imagine not good. The consultant orthopod was horrified that I had been left hobbling on this for so long and that I wasn't on a list for a TKR. I told him I had been saying for the last 18 months that it was bad. I might get that as an epitaph lol

So now it's back to the docs to get referred to the consultant. However I do have my consultants secretary's tel no. Do you think I should just call her direct? I'm terribly shy about doing that sort of thing.

So sat at home unable to do no more than hobble now which I hate. I've not even seen my horse for 2 weeks except when he goes past the window being led or ridden by a mate. I am however determined to be on again next week. I won't be beaten by this.

Oh and I am having all my meds changed in 2 weeks time. Coming off the morphine and going onto patches and pregabolin so I will need to pick brains for info a bit later.

If you managed to read this far then I thank you.

And finally, a huge Thanks to Stickeywicket for the thread. Xx

Lots of love, Fols xx

Helloooo! It's lovely to hear from you again, you have been misssed by quite a few of us and it's lovely to see your name pop up once more. I am sorry about the interweb, the cat, the knee and not being able to ride your horse but I am pleased to hear about the pup (sooooooo envious) and the fact that the ortho is about to be notified. I'm no expert on ringing secretaries but I suspect they will have to wait to be told 'officiallly' by your GP that you need to see them rather than you just ringing up. There are procedures for everything - exasperating but true - and chase them up by all means once the letter is written. DD

Hi Fols, I'm glad your back.
    Crikey you have been busy!
Sorry to hear about your cat. You must really miss him.
The knee flare sounds awful, but at least something will be done now!
    Wishing you well,

Thanks peeps. Puppy is lovely when asleep and a total monster when awake. She runs my other dog Poppy ragged but at the same time has instilled some of the confidence she lost when my old girly Daisy went to pastures new.

The house is a mess, floor covered in bits of twigs, chewed up plastic bottles (great puppy toys btw, just screw the lid on tight and they bounce about with them for ages), chewed up teddy bears and teddy bear fluff lol. The amazing thing is she house trained herself in one day :o She is incredibly intelligent so puppy classes for her and my son/hubby. I get to watch for the first time in years lol.

    Welcome back :D

I am sorry to hear about your kitty, they are precious and part of our family.

Your puppy sounds gorgeous and I am exhausted just listening to what she gets up to!!!! I hope she brings much pleasure.

I would ring the secretary regards the knee, then she can look out for the letter. If they are nice(mine is), she may even ring the surgery and ask them to fax the letter over and sort things straight away for you. I have had this done for me in the past. You have nothing to lose by trying.

Lovely to see you back, Fols and no wonder you went missing. Any one of those things would be enough to take you away for some time.

Personally, I'd ring the secretary. That sort of thing used to bother me, too, but no longer. It might save time. The knee sounds very nasty. I hope things happen quickly for you.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hey welcome back flora, I'm so sorry to hear about catty, I to lost my bubba recently and I know about vets bill's! I've just got my Mastercard bill and was horrified how much it was looking at it broken down it was all the vets visits to see Bubba over the last month of his life! And we didn't have pet insurance either! But it's wonderful you have Primrose in your life now to love, I'm sure he will never take the place of catty but will help mend your broken heart and with help with the hurt of loosing Catty. We're not going to have another pet, we couldn't go through the hurt again. I would be calling the R.S.P.C.A so they could hunt that stray down so it doesn't attack anyone else's animals and so it doesn't attack anymore of your pets! I'm sorry that your knee has decided to go in on it's self and you may have to have it operated on, and yes I would definatly call the doctor's secretary, I've done that many of a time!! Glad your back if that's when B.T allow's your internet to work!!

    Hi Folara

Wow things really have been a rollercoaster for you and your family at the moment havent they? Im sorry you lost your Kitty but glad you also got a new addition to the brood too! The vets bill sounds astronomical but its a price we would pay over and over for our loved pets...
Sorry too about your knee collapsing in on itself, that sounds horrendous so lots of hugs to you on that one!

Good to see you back on here

Thanks so much all of you.

Bubba - I'm sorry to hear about Bubba. It's horrible losing our furry friends but a part of being a good mummy/daddy to them. I've contacted the Cats Protection League (RSPCA are useless) and they are going to organise a capture box for me. Then he can be de-balled etc and found a farm where he can be a ratcatcher.

Internet been terrible again last 2 days with the wind so hubby has tried to get the BT twits to do something. Here's to it hopefully helping.
