hi everyone,
haven't posted in a while. it's usually when I'm suffering I tend to post more
anyways, after taking methotrexate for 18 months and coping with sickness, wiped out feelings and tummy aches I gave it up and had a break. boy did I feel the pain i felt terrible and realised that although the side effects were horrible the MTX had definately been working for me.
seen a fabulous new consultant too who advised i start on 20mg daily of leflunomide. i was so anxious at first as sickness was one of the side effects (i thought here we go again) but after 2-3 weeks the benefits started showing.
i'm now able to get out of bed without taking co-cod half an hr before.
i can now get back in and out of the bath, dress myself and no longer need to come down the stairs one at time very slowly. i've also been able to take my little girls to school again.
i'm so happy with it. just wanted to share as i feel as though i've had a new lease of life.
(although today i have overdone it by doing all the housework and getting a cake order out so really feeling it now  bath and early night hopefully will sort me out)
sending gentle hugs to everyone xxxxx

Hi cakegirl, I'm really pleased you are having such success with Lef.
When I tried it, I did find that it helped my RA, but I couldn't tolerate the side effects. Even when I tried it at a low dose, it made me very ill, and the room spinning dizzy spells were terrible.
I hope it continues to help you. Take it easy.
Wishing you well,
Numpty0 -
aww, sorry to hear that numpty. it just goes to show that we're all individual and what necessarily works for one may not for another.
just happy that i don't have those awful side effects anymore that i used to get xxxCakegirl xxx0 -

That's great news, cakegirl, and thank you for sharing it with us. We keep telling newbies that it's horses for courses and eventually they'll hit on the right meds but it helps a lot if people come back to tell us. I hope lef continues to work well for you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
