Hi All

Im going to apologise first of all for posting a grumpy thread but feel need to...
I do have arthritis, those that know me know im waiting for TKR, seeing specialist on 9th July 2012...
Just recently things have been happening, have had intertrigo for 4 weeks now anxd even though it fades slightly from being an angry red rash to pale pink and dry, nothing I do can shift this. Been to doctors and been told they cant do anything else as have tried canesten (blue and red), daktarin, betnovate n and trimovate.....Ive even been talking to this at night telling it to go away, silly I know...Have used cotton pads to put against skin to protect this damn thing, hardly nice and pretty!
Anyway was trying to keep upbeat and then couple of weeks ago put on some new birkenstocks which I buy every year and they hurt like hell, so I sold them on sell and seek. Had some other type sandals that were initially comfortable but then when was wwalking more found they rubbed too...The pain was on the outside of my right foot, the side of the little toe...Went to K Village and got some really comfy sandals but am still finding that this bit on my toe is hurting, its like the bone is sticking out...I said to my mum was it a bunion, she said no dont get them on that side of feet....Looked it up on web and lo and behold its a tailor's bunion!! Im horrified and disgusted that my body can do this to me now and really feel like crying...I dont want an unsightly, horrible protruding bunion and as havent worn fashionable shoes, that were too tight, etc, dont feel its fair - only wore the uncomfortable sandals for about a week and a bit!!
Like I said first of all, im sorry to moan but what with arfur, auto immune disease and urticaria, intertrgo and now this I think ive got one too many ailments!!

Elaine :(

    Hi Elaine,
no wonder you feel grumpy. It's typical isn't it? Just as you grow accustomed to the ailments you have, life throws more at you!
Horrible as it is, you can cope with this. I know it doesn't seem fair, and you wonder when enough will be enough, but you will cope, because you have to.
Don't ever feel you need to apologise for having a moan. We are all hear to listen.
Thinking of you and wishing you well,
    Numpty

    Hi Elaine

What about hydrocortisone cream that you keep in the fridge? I've just been given this for a fungal infection and it's worked for that.

    Hi Elaine

could the lump on your foot be the start of a bunion as that is the same place as i have mine unfortunately i have bunions on both the little toe sides and the big toes its really painfull .I found the dodgy side left foot was fatter than the right foot .I hope i am wrong in your case , it was just a thought , Sorry your skin is still playing up ,i started to get dryer flakey shin asked doctor if the meds had caused it she said could be , and has given me some diprobase cream , i have not used it yet as aqueous cream seems to help so far .
Hope you can find relief soon .

    Hi Karen

I know its trivial but its sore as you said and best thing of all is they reckon birkenstocks are better for this kind of condition as they give the foot more room! For me its just another thing on top of everything else and im soooo pissed off!
Id take you up on offer of session but cant enjoy drink much these days either, keeps me awake and bad tummy!

    Hi Elaine

I think I would be seveely hacked off too if i had all those issues and then my feet started giving me grief!
Sounds like you could benefit from a visit to a skin specialist as well my lovely.....you shouldnt have to suffer like this!

I too struggle with shoes and have been living in a pair of Trainer type shoes from Foot Solutions...........i got them after my 3rd Arthroscopy .........they cost me £125.........! I nearly fell through the floor, but they are without doube the most comfortable thing i have had on my feet in years!

    big hugs xxxx

    Hi Julia

I just cant believe my luck its just not on at all with all the other issues im combatting....When you say your feet gave you grief how do you mean? I simply dont have £125 for those kind of shoes, I have the fit trainers, the ones that have the rocking type sole....
Re a skin specialist Id like to see someone but the surgery just tell me, cant do anything more for intertrigo sorry...I dont want to have either condition long or short term...:-(

    Hi Elaine

Re grief with my feet.........well i have a very high arch wich makes finding/buying shoes quite tricky in itself, i have very soft sensitive feet, but i tend to "stamp" instead of daintily walking and cant wear any sandal type shoes which have a smooth insole as the friction from walking is dreadful..........i've bunions too, so extra width is a must...........cant wear heels cos of the dodgy knees............and then there is the problem of them feeling like they are burning!
    :P
I dont have loads of money, but needed to find something extra comfortable in an effort to reduce the impact on my knees...........so i bit the bullet and got them..........i waer them all day every day to work, and have done for nearly a year! So i reckon thats quite good value!

You see the worst ive had before this has been a blister once in a blue moon...I never did the stupid things such as try to wear strappy, narrow footwear and skyscraper heels...I wear hotter boots and my sandals i got are clarks....I cant imagine never wearing sandals again and could not ever afford £125 for a pair of shoes, i simply dont have that kind of money on me..
Its the dull ache of this thats bothering me, like tootache, if it didnt hurt wouldnt be as bad...And onl had this for just over a week....

    Why me?

I'm sure I've read some AC forum users have had bunions removed. Hopefully they will see your post and give you advice. Despite having endless pain in my feet and difficulty buying comfortable, fashionable shoes I've not had a bunion so cannot advise other than to sympathise as I would be also upset if I did get one.

I cant believe ive got one...My birkenstocks were fine couple of weeks ago was only when was walking for a bit had this pain and thought they had just rubbed but ever since then the bony bit is bit more prominent and aches all day......I dont do fashionable, its not worth it, thats what have always said....Im mortified and its just another proverbial straw...
Think surgery would be if it was last resort, dont think docs would take it seriously..
