They’ve gone

My son, wife and 5 yr old grandson, that is, who arrived on Friday. My Mum always used to say it was lovely to see us come and equally lovely to see us go. How right she was!

Of course I shall miss the laughter (and, boy, do we excel at that!), the shared fun, the shared meals, the over-indulgence in alcohol, having another female perspective around, just having another female around.

BUT

1. The loo seat is back home where it belongs instead of my having to pick it up from the side of the loo, place it in position and then return it to the floor every time because the little guy can’t make it if it’s left in situ.

2. My pick-up-stick (best toy in the house) can also return to its home, hanging from the kitchen door handle, instead of lurking, uselessly, in a dark corner of the bedroom.

3. My beloved son’s nerve-wracking wheelchair wheelies with me (“Gavin, can you beat Grandma?”) can be put to bed until the next visit.

It was fantastic while it lasted and thank God it’s over!

Wasn't it Wilde who remarked that 'House guests are like fish, both go off after three days.' How true. I am glad you have had a lovely time but equally pleased that you have your house back to yourselves, it's a truly blissful feeling isn't it? It's also lovely to see you back here. DD

Oh Sticky, that sounds like it was great fun, but exhausting!
Right, now spend the day in your favourite chair, with your feet up, and the drink of your choice to hand.
    All the best,
    Numpty

Another one :o Are you sure, Numpty? I was thinking more of a dry day. I shall keep thinking.

Thanks everyone. Just me and him tonight. Whatever shall we do? Yup, you got it - we shall sleep.

We call the pick-up-stick a grabber, and my son thinks it is the best toy in the house. especially as my grandad replaced the magnet with an earth magnet

Glad you had a good weekend

I know exactly what you mean. I love it when my daughter comes to stay with her husband and my little grandson. They turn the house upside down. Great while it lasts but a big sigh of relief when they go. Glad you had a good time.

Oh Isn't it heaven Sticky. Much as I'm sure you love to see them the relief when you can get back to normal is great.
Now you can play the games you got with Mr Sticky.

Thanks everyone. You're quite right, Joan. I could happily have stayed in bed and just slept this morning but it doesn't work for me so I got up as usual and soon got going. Another early night should see me back to normal.
