ESR Results.

Hi all
I am in a bad way at the moment. Two weeks ago I had my bloods done for the Meth, two days later I had a call from GP asking for them to be repeated. Went in Friday last week and had them done again. When the nurse filled in my booklet I noticed my ESR had gone from 11 6 weeks before to 60 this time. Well, I have been in to the surgery today at their request to be told that the ESR is now 70! GP says there is nothing she can do but contact my Rhuemy and get a quick appointment. Has anyone else experienced these high figures over a short period of time? It is clear that the Humira is not working. I am also very tired of late, falling asleep in the middle of the day very often. Any one gone through this? Any feedback would be welcome. Thanks

Hi Den,
I'm no doc, but based on my own experience it sounds like you're having a bit of a flare-up. This happened to me a month or so into Humira. How long have you been on each treatment? If you've started on MTX plus Humira recently, it could well be that neither medication has kicked in yet.
Feeling tired is part and parcel of inflammation, unfortunately. I hope you'll be able to see your rheumatologist asap

Oh dear, Welshgooner, poor you. I too have had high figures before meds started to take effect or were failing, it is disturbing but please try not to worry too much. I apologise that I cannot remember how long you have been taking humira :oops: but I hope you are able to see your rheumatologist sooner rather than later. You could be flaring - that is still possible despite the immuno-suppressant meds. Rest as much as you can and please let us know when you get an appointment. I wish you well. Thanks everyone. I have been on Humira since Jan this year and the meth for a few years now. I have also rang the advice line this morning and hopefully someone will get back to me soon. Dioch Yn Fawr.
