Hi Whitecat
Nice to meet you. I am so sorry about your poor fingers
Have you ever tried rubbing anti-inflammatory gel in?? Or soaking them in warm water?? Some people on here have hand splints which help....your Gp could refer you for them to the occupational therapists. Some have also sworn by hot oil treatment (I think that's physiotherapy).

Hi Maureen
Welcome to the forum. I am sorry you are having a bad day - we all have them.
When my thumbs are giving me jip which is not so often now as the base of the thumb is so deformed and the oa has just about burnt itself out which can happen. I can still use my hands ok though most of the time so that is the main thing. If they give me jip when for instance I have ovedonw it with the secatours in the garden I wrap a heated wheatbag around them and that is soothing and makes the pain diminish. I also take 2 anti inflams each day to deal with my general oa aches and pains which really do help. I have tried to be without them but the difference is so great that I always return to them. I have had steroid injections in my thumbs which does help for a time but is not a permanent solution unfortunately.

Good thinking Elna - the steroid jabs!
I hadn't thought of those.

Hi Maureen,
Some Physiotherapy units at hospitals have hot wax for fingers and hands
which with time help with pain and dexterity. Ask your GP to be referred to
physios. Good Luck.
