hey all,I haven't been on here in a while as things have been crazy waiting for bone fusion surgery in my foot. I had my injections & got very little relief. Saw the surgeon again & was put on the list for surgery & was told 6-8 weeks. I had a call & was given a date. i was soo ready to be pain free even though i know i will be in plaster for about 4 months.
i had pre op & 2 days before surgery my operation was cancelled as they reviewed my scans & notes & decided they wanted a surgeon who was higher up to do it. i can understand why but its so frustrating!! i sort of put up with pain although was taking tramadol i thought id get through a few more weeks of waiting. I even gave up smoking so i have more chance of the surgery working..... go me!!! its been nearly 6 weeks and ive not had a puff.
Anyway i ended up going back to g.p as pain was so intense & now im on morphine. a route i didnt want to take. does anyone have any advice on pain relief? im so fed up & feel a walking zombie! :-( louise xxx

Hi Louise
I am so sorry you got cancelled, but like you would rather the RIGHT person did the op for you
So sorry that you have had to resort to morphine, but do think of it as a temporary measure if you can :? .
As for the not smoking!!! Well that is great news recovery and healing will all be so much better for you now
Love and hugs

Oh no it's horrible when they cancel on you cos you get all psyched up for it. Morphines not so bad, I've been on it and Tramadol for a good while now and it does help.
Well done on the stop smoking front tho, that's brilliant. Keep it up cos it will certainly help you.

This isn't easy indeed but from what you have said I reckon this is for the best. Surely you deserve the best posssible person to do the op? You are playing your part in stopping smoking (well done for that by the way) and I am sure that the op you need will take place, hopefully sooner rather than later. In the meantime the pain relief will help. Take care. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Louise
I am sorry they have cancelled, after getting all ready for it, I can only imagine your disappointment, but like the others have said its much better to have the right person doing the job.
I do hope you can get on top of the pain.
Take care xxLove

Hi all,
thankyou for all your replies. definately want the right person to do my op, ive waited 9 years for this so a few more weeks wont kill me lol! i was dissappointed that id sorted so much stuff out ready & got myself psyched up for it. its nice in a way that ive had a bit more time to spend with some of my family without being plastered up!
saw the smoking nurse today, she was really pleased i have gone 6 weeks tomorrow without smoking. to be fair i wanted to quit but just needed something to make me actually do it. i feel soooo much better for it! patches all the way!!:-)
As for the morphine, im hoping it will only be until i go in for surgery & i should be pretty much pain free within a few weeks......thats the plan anyway!! those of you who do take morphine, how do you cope with the side effects besides getting something to counteract what side effects the morphine gives you? i guess u cant have it all ways tho ;-)
I feel like a bit of a zombie.... only bonus is im managing to get a bit of rest, especially at night.
I just needed a bit of la rant yesterday....sorry!! but thanks for all your advice.
