Just had the guy come round with the chair raisers ordered from the Occupational Therapist. The bloomin' things wont fit my chair! Grrr.

So I still have no additional equiptment to help me in the house..

Struggle on, I will.
Life is just a ride. Up and down, round and around, thrills and chills, very brightly coloured and very loud. But don't ever be afraid, because it is just a ride.

Ok this is a bit unorthodox but it works for me. Mr SW bought a newel post from the local DIY store, sawed it in half and nailed each half front to back on either side of my armchair. That was several years ago. It still works perfectly, doesn't look too unsightly and slides quite well for vaccing.

Will they come back with some more? In the meantime would sitting on a pillow or another cushion help? I have extra cushions under my sofa cushion, they make life a little more comfortable. DD

Yeah, I used a cushion to raise myself up and a pillow for my back/hips.

I'm not that hugely bothered about the chair raisers, though they may be better, it's just that it is another thing that I can't get done.

Sitting is causing loads of pain, especially in the evening, now. I often have to put a load of cushions on the floor and sit on the floor with my back against the chair for support. But even that can be really uncomfortable, especially if I'm trying to watch telly and get my position right.

I know I'm so new to this pain, and I must sound so annoying to you lot when I say this, but it's just so difficult to put up with! I don't know how people who have had it for a long time manage to cope with it! It's only been a few months for me and I'm crumbling under the pain in the evenings from my hips and knees.

When my my kids were little I used to perch on the edge of the big nursery-type fireguard so that I didn't have to sit down because sitting down invariably involved standing up again at some further point. I hated the standing up. You'll get used to it, Avrielle. We all do.

Hi Avrielle, I had this same problem and they said they were going to have to build a special frame for the sofa, so check back with them to see if they are offering something similar for you.

In the end though i bought a riser/recliner chair and one of those "over armchair tables" and that is now where i sit most of the time.
I really struggle to get up from the sofa's these days.
it was a bit of a hassle trying to fit the chair in as I already have 3+3+2 sofa's, but with a bit of re-jigging the layout in the lounge I now have my special corner looking out over the garden so it's perfect.

They really should have offered you the "frame" option, as none of the available raisers would fit with my sofa's, so chase them up.
    Good luck
