This Idiot has struck again

Hi All, On Thursday I was strolling...well sort of...along the High Street in town and I fell over. I felt such an idiot. Anyway some-one called an ambulance and I was taken to community hospital for xrays. I fell on my goodish side. No bones broken....sigh of relief...but at the moment I am a lovely shade of blue...with odd black bits from my left foot to my left shoulder.I am feeling really sorry for myself.
I think its the thought that all this will eventually turn that horrible yellow colour.
The stairs need a hoover....OH will be out until 3pm....and I've lost any confidence I had. Not much to begin with but there was some there.
I refuse to be a hermit but even covered up some bruising can still be seen.I'm not being vain but don't like the idea of the people in my village asking what I did.I look like I've been hit by a bus.
Hope it all goes before my holiday. May

I empathise with the bruises, I've spent the past couple of weeks with some crackers thanks to a tumble: I don't know about you but I have to concentrate when walking, there are so many things to trip the unwary one. I have been known to ignore friends who say hello as they stroll past simply because I am so focused on the difficult art of putting one foot in front of the other. You're not an idiot May, these things happen. Smother the bruises with witch hazel (or use arnica cream / tablets) and I hope they clear soon.
As for the hoovering just take it slowly, one tread at a time, and if you feel uncertain then stop. Tumbles do affect confidence, there's no doubt about that, but it can be regained. Take the greatest care, please. ((())) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
When all's said and done , what's more important ; hoovering or you ? If you don't feel up to doing the cleaning then don't do it ! A few days won't matter . Concentrate on getting yourself feeling better first . Jillyb0

I'm using Arnica gel. My thoughts are the stairs will be there when I'm not.
After all I'm not expecting anyone important to call today and if my daughter should mention them she can hoover.....in fact she can hoover if she doesn't mention them.
Being a small village its difficult to avoid people I know but I'm staying in anyway.I'll watch the tennis later.....just be lazy.0 -
sounds like you really are in a right mess but regards other people i think its best to just try to laugh it off. the more honest and matter of fact you can be with the various elements of arthur the eaier it is for other people to empathize and offer you support.
homeopathic arnica is a real gem to have for bruising but you must take it correctly in order for it to work its best. you MUST have a clean mouth, best swilled out with water and no coffee tea toothpaste or food 10 mins at least either side of taking the little pills. ensure you let them dissolve in your mouth, under the tongue next to the gum tissue where they are quickly and easily absorbed. i am amazed at how many people have tried homeopathic remedies and either swallow them or eat with food - this renders them useless!
the good thing about arnica tabs is that they also work on the emotional effects you might be feeling - they also help bruised ego as well as the nasty bruising, which if working correctly, you will see dissolve in front of your eyes over a couple of days. they also help sore muscles and any swelling and give you perhaps a tiny bit of pain relief too as they help your body reabsorb swelling.
hope you are feeling better soon and manage to get out and about a bit more. life is too short to spend it indoors feeling bad and the people out there are just human too, all with their troubles and strains0 -
when i was 17 i had a crash on kids go cart went down path on my face yes it did look like i had been in car crash did go to work with it only one side looked bad lol but they did not want me on till for some reason lol and talked me into going home but the number of times people asked have you been in car crash lol do not stay in they are just being kind and will give them something to talk about valval0

I hope the gel is helping May, I'm a witch hazel girl as I find that reduces the swelling and is more soothing than arnica - horses for courses again! Tumbles to knock the stuffing out of one but I am pleased that those around you took such pro-active action - in my town people would be more likely to walk round one and tut-tut! The tennis is a perfect excuse for not going out - and there's an ever better match due tomorrow - well, that's if you like tennis! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Well May how terrible that your stairs need hoovering you should have done them before you went out. I dont know you wimmin worry about some things, there you are black and blue thinking about the STAIRS. Put yourself first young lady and make sure you rest up. heaven forbid OH knows where the hover is kept net youll have him doing dishes.
You take care may and gett better soon. Oh one last thing " stop Worrying about what people might think"
ColinWHEN GOD GIVES YOU LEMONS MAKE LEMONADE0 -
May wow I'm sorry you took such a tumble, the person who phoned the ambulance was a kind person. I agree with Jilly you should rest up till the bruising settles and what damage has had chance to heal. Your more important than any cleaning!! I think everyone on this forum has lost any confidence they had to go outside alone or do any tasks needed to do after taking a tumble and hurting themselfs. It's happened to me outside in the street a few times which proves I've got my confidence back after taking a tumble, I'll admit it took a while but I did it, just remember never say never!!0

Hello May, how are things today? I hope the bruising is easing and that you are not in too much trouble with everything. (((()))) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Now the yellow has started to show!!!! So its 3 different shades blue black and that dirty yellow colour.
It might be raining here this morning but I've got shopping to do.
I had an idea that the people who gathered round when I fell might have thought I was drunk!!!!!! about 11am.
I tend to have the odd bruise permanently but never the whole side of my body.
As for Arnica tablets I wouldn't want to add anything else to the mix.
The gel is something I have in all the time.
Confidance is coming back. Its a case of I must I can and I will.
Be it ever so slow I'll do that shopping regardless. May0 -
i know its horrid to fall , i had a falling out with my daughter a couple of weeks ago over one i had .....on the hospital stairs.....i know stupid i should have used the lift (sigh) but she didnt have to laugh and call me an idiot...i know i felt like a fool, she just didnt have to point it out. anyway bit the bullet and got a walking stick FOR NOW.i have most trouble going up stairs and people just stare, going down is easier momentum just pulls me along i like double railings,as i can use them to take the pressure off my knees .lol0
-
And were you drunk, May ?
Seriously, it’s much to your credit that you’re just getting on with things but please don’t overdo it. Rest as much as possible after the shopping because your joints probably won’t like the added exercise with bruises.
That rainbow I just saw – it wasn’t you, was it?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
Steven Wright0 -
May, that was bad luck, not you being an idiot.
I hope you're feeling better.
Best wishes,
Numpty0 -
Hope you feel better soon, my various wobbles usually mean bruised legs, I always had them as a kid so always feel like I just failed to grow up...I bet your awful yellow isn't as bad as some fake tans going about this summer and they put stuff on their skin to make them that yellow (not all fake tans are bad, just the ones badly or over applied)! As for stairs there will be people out there who don't even realise you are supposed to clean them so not having them spic and span is just fine. Keep going but take care and well done on keeping the threads of confidence, it really takes some doing at times and is a fine example to us all xxHey little fighter, things will get brighter0

Morning May. How are you feeling today? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh Sticky....I can't believe how long it took me to do a bit of shopping yesterday. If I'd seen one of those yellow spillage signs it wouldn't have got done at all.....
No...definately not drunk...I only drink at weddings and funerals.Maybe some-one spiked my coffee.
I could have been the rainbow.....although no orange or green.I just hope it all disappears before I go away.......May
Just had a thought...those fake tans would give me the orange colour.0 -
Hope you have agood holiday and the brusers clear up you dont want them in a bikini.Mig0

Oh Mig...your having a laugh. Its been years since I wore a bikini and anyway I'm only going to Eastbourne.............May0
