Damp, cold weather and its affects

I was reading that there is no scientific proof that damp or cold weather has a detrimental affect on the joints of people with arthritis. :o
If they had asked the millions of people who suffer from Arthur I think the result would have been conclusive.

I am so fed up with this summer we are having.
My "bit of heaven" is being in my garden, on the garden sofa, reading a book on my e-reader and listening to the birds singing.
It's the one thing that lifts my spirits.
Instead i am stuck indoors, feeling low watching the rain pouring down outside the window, restless dog itching to get outside and my joints aching.

Anyone else feeling this despair?
The forecast is saying a whole month of this weather still to come :(

Sorry for the downer.

I am so with you on this Harley. I am an outdoor person through and through and the fact I can no longer walk severely limits what I can do outside. I miss doing my horses, walking my doggies, gardening and sitting on my lounger with a good book and a glass of lemonade.

This rubbish weather DOES make me ache more, **** the scientific results. I just want some nice warming sunshine on the joints.

Time to emigrate? Ooh yes please.

I'm not an outdoor person thanks to years of chronic asthma and hay fever, I can no longer tolerate sunshine thanks to photosensitivity caused by the methotrexate (long sleeves, scarf and hat are now de rigeur) but I think there is a link between low pressure weather and joint pain. I was not affected by winter cold or damp weather when it was just the PsA but now, with the OA, ye gods I can tell the difference. Who gives a toss what the scientists say? We are living the grim reality, let them muck around in their ivory towers spouting nonsense.

Bill Bryson once compared living in the UK to being in Tupperware for nine months of the year, i.e. all grey and drippy. How right he is. DD

I find my 'arthur' is worse when the weather is damp and humid..
When the weather is cold & rainy - for some bizarre reason the pain seems a little easier... although mentally it's horrible...

    Guess I'm odd....?? lol....

Hi Harly, I know exactly how you feel! I'm stuck in door's 5 day's a week I may get lucky and my OH may take me out over the weekend so if we don't get out that's stuck in door's 7 days a week! On Friday our new ratten suite arrived and it's now in the conservatory and I'm looking forward to sitting in there with the conservatory door's open so I get the heat on me and like yourself I love to listen to the birds singing and see whitch birds are in my garden (I'm a bit of a beginner twitcher!). I also like to sit back and read my book as you already know. Not being able to drive means I'm stuck indoors and relient on my OH to take me to places which I hate. And like yourself this damp wet weather doesn't help it means the little bit of outdoor freedom I have is lock downed, and the damp has effected me with the flare up I'm living with at the moment, we have to have some windows open due to the humidity and the damp is in the air and effecting my joints. So all together like yourself I'm well fed up!!
