pain illness disability

i believe that different people are troubled more by certain aspects of their condition - for me i have felt ill like im going to die, have no energy stamina & feel sick and unable to get out of bed or eat or do anything. this for me is the very worst part of the disease of RA.
i can just about deal with the all over pain, if i take the right pain meds & they all working happily together. it doesnt go but if i can feel good then the pain is not so bad.
with the disability, i have found ways round those problems in my body & i can teach myself new ways to do things that i cant do any more (not cutting my toe nails tho)
this is a just for fun poll really - im not going to do anything with it, but interested to see how other people think and how other people cope

I’m sorry to be a party pooper but I find this an extraordinary question and absolutely pointless as we have a disease with all three components interlinked.
I don’t feel able to vote as I’d obviously get rid of whichever element was bothering me most at the time.
Overall, the feeling ill, weak etc comes and goes, thankfully it doesn’t come very often for me now.
The pain increases and diminishes though it never goes.
The disability just stays and, although there are ways round very many things, anyone who has ever tried washing their hair with hands that don’t reach above their nose, will know that some disabilities are insurmountable.
As far as I’m concerned, R.A. is a pain. End of.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

i can not answer this as to be honest at times it the pain when i can not climb the stairs or others when the exhaustion hits and wipes me out will give it some thought see if one wins over the otherval0

stickywicket i understand you completely. you arent in the mood for fun as there is no fun with RA.
regards hairwashing - yes this is a major pain and one i am able to deal with. i have people who help me with all sorts of physical tasks but on hairwashing they are lucky to get 1 out of 10. im like wtf is it with people that they cant wash hair. when i was 14/15 i had a job with the top hairdresser in the city and was taught how to wash hair & so this has lived with me a lifetime.
i cant even live in a house on my own for multiple care reasons but the main one being i cant open and close the door with the key. so, either im trapped in or i have to get a stranger in the street to open my door. no brainer there
within the next 6 weeks i will be back in my own house with the care i need but still nobody to wash my hair but i just have to laugh and keep calm.
according to the poll which a few people have voted on, its the pain that is the biggest challenge - yea i know im living with it too - wakened up this morning snivelling again cos of course the pain meds wear off and you cant quite control that half asleep whimper.
my head and guts dont feel sick and i dont feel too tired so at least i can try to function rather than be flopped out on a bed.
i suppose for me the poll is showing that if others can deal with the sick illness then so can i. that is my stumbling block in dealing with this disease & in the treatements i take.0 -
Earthspirit we could be twins, I have often said I can deal with the pain or the sickness
But I cant do both. I read the other posts but I feel totally different yes I have all three and as the others say nothing you can do about it but yes there is in my opinion.
I am disabled nothing I can do about that
I am in the most dreadful pain at the moment and been up all last night dispite the Pred and the pain killers I still have it. However if I try to keep myself busy and its hard to concentrate when your like this as most of you will know. But keeping busy in some way does help take your mind off things. We learn to cope and adapt with long term pain.
Feeling ill I feel like I might die today and felt like that yesterday some times I feel like this for weeks
Just been to see the nurse at GPs for check up on my heart, But your fine blods ok urine ok all your results are really good and your blood pressure is good. Yes but I feel like i.m so ill I might die. I cant do anything for this dame sickness I really do feel so ill I don’t know what to do with myself. For me it would be Get shut of the sick , ill, dieing feeling and wanting to throw up all the time. I never had this conversation before so this is a first top find out im not alone and its not all in my head give me the pain any day I just cant cope with this.

No that's not what I meant at all, earthspirit.
I think there's a lot of fun with RA and could provide tons of instances. I've had a lot of fun all my life, some of it because of RA and some of it despite RA.
I just find it odd to try to separate the different aspects of it given that they are all part and parcel of one disease and none of us gets a choice anyway. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

HI Sticky
I disagree......
I know they are part and parcel of the one illness
but as earthspirit said "its a FUN poll".
I voted but didnt comment until now.
I dont seem to get the sickness some of you get.
The disability YES and the pain YES
Yhe disability I can find ways around most things but the pain ...well thats a different matter

morning to my twin colin lol
i hope your sickness is somehow wearing off.it does still seem that pain is what people long to get rid of most but i seriously cant handle sick and dizzy.....so my next questin is, how do people deal with that awful sick feeling - what do you do to alleviate symptoms.
something that makes me feel like im going to pass out throw up or is like bein drunk is much much worse than pain and possibly what deters me from taking meds that may better help my RA0
