    Thank you Elaine and Bubbadog.

I was told what I didn't want to hear-I need my THR on my left leg and he would like to do it as soon as possible(8 week waiting list) because it needs to recover in time for my ankle op. The ankle is starting to fuse and bits (Posh words I cannot remember) have deteriorated badly. He kept pointing to the screen 'this bone has gone' and 'that bone is fusing' and 'you must be in so much pain'.

Got a week to decide whether to go ahead with THR.
Now to read how you got on at your appointment.

    Hi Elizabeth

Oh no you didnt want that yet did you? All I can say is it must be really bad and maybe once you get your head round it you can see it would be best....Think hard and ask for lots of opinions from friends and family but you know what the right answer is..

Thank you Elaine. No I didn't want it but only because I am scared and worried about care for the children. I was all geared up tell him to leave it another 6 months!!!Maybe over the week I'll come to terms with it.He's really concerned about my ankle and doesn't want me recovering from ankle surgery with such a messed up hip and so I must bow to his better judgement.

I had a great THR op with the other side I really shoudn't be concerned but operations are frightening and I feel really sick at the thought. Wish I never had R.A!

I will have a good cry to get it out of the system.

You cry get it out of your system, its not what you needed to hear and neither want with busy family life...It does sound like the (can i say sensible thing to do) becuase of your ankle problems...
I can totally understand how sickened and scared you must feel, honest..

Thanks for your best wishes Toni,

Sorry Elaine I have hijacked your thread. I'm so used to chatting to you 1-1 I forgot we are on AC if you know what I mean.

I think you are pleased with the opportunity to sort out your knee whereas I'm not so pleased!

Hi Elizabeth, Your appt was good in someways getting op done fairly quickly but bad that you need an op, I hope you do decide what's best for you and your family. And whatever you decide you know you will have the support of your blood family and your AC family. Big (((HUGS))) sweetie.

    Elizabeth

I am happy but in no way looking forward to the surgery, im sure I'll be a hellish patient! I guess its the unknown, I dont know really what to expect so Im going in with realtively open mind....Plus I dont have kids, partner to look after, instead i got people looking after me so thats maybe part of the equation, I dont know...Its also going to be the first major operation for me, for you its not..I can only hope for the best cant I?

I hope you start to feel a bit better soon about your hip op...Really
