It confirms that I have severe carpal tunnel syndrome in the right hand, not so severe in the left, so the suggestion is that I am referred to orthopaedics for further investigations and ergo possible surgery. No doubt they will say that I am too young and too fat, come back in two years: oh no, hang on, that's the knees!

I'm kinda relieved and kinda fed up. At least the tingling and numbness is confirmed as that and nothing more nasty so that is a good thing. I am now going to forget all about it as I have to work and then pack to go away tomorrow. I shall be Living With Arthritis in something resembling a paddy field in Suffolk - we're off to the Latitude Festival at the Henham Estate just outside Southwold. Woo-hoo! It will be a week-end for wellies and macs - at least meth rash won't be a problem.

I hope you are as all as well as you can be, our router is up and running (unlike me who's just up and dressed). DD

Mm. It's hard to rejoice in a double dose of carpal tunnel syndrome, isn't it, but I guess it could have been worse. (Oh how arthritis teaches us to celebrate the minor triumphs  )

I prescribe total oblivion about the whole thing (or as much oblivion as your wrists will allow), a good weekend with Mr DD and then come back and ponder on it all later. Good plan?
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Sorry to hear you have carpal tunnel in both hands. Hope they will be able to do something that will help it. If it is severe, then perhaps a small operation can be done to expand the vessel that causes carpal tunnel syndrome.

I suffer numbness and tingling in my hands from time to time, lasting for a few days to a couple of weeks at a time, on and off. been fine for a while, but today and yesterday the numbness and tingling has started again. Doctors say it isn't carpal tunnel, but they can't give an explanation either. It's not really bad, but it can be uncomfortable sometimes and can cause some weakness in my hands too. Maybe I should go back to the docs and remind them again of this problem...

But at least you know what it is and hopefully some treatment can be found to help.

    Loads of love. xxx

DD, my hubby had the op a few years ago. It has come back again now though. The op was straightforward just local anaesthetic  and a hand dressing for a couple of weeks. No driving etc not that he listened!!!!! He regrets having the op although it did releive the symptoms for a few years.

Its the loss of strength and grip that bothers him the most. I suppose you have to weigh it up and see what the doc says. At least you know what the cause is.

    Enjoy the weekend :D

Right, so, it's bad news, but it could have been worse. Still hard to be pleased about it though hey.
    Lets hope it's soon sorted.
My sister in law had the op about 30 years ago, and has had no problems since.
It's great to have you back, the forum was strangely quiet without you.
    Have a lovely weekend.
    All the best,

    Hi DD
You are doing the right thing going on hols and forget about it, you have a lovely time, and then see what they say when you get back.
When I was having my hip camera, the lady opposite had just come back from having one hand done, apparently the lady had been doing to much typing
Hope the sun shines for you x

    Hi DD,

Well, relieved and fed up sounds familiar! I've had carpal tunnel syndrome and it's not much fun at all. But the festival looks great – I've just checked out the website because I'm a nosy sort of bird – and I hope you 'n' yours have a wonderful weekend.

    Best wishes,
    Phoebe

Thank you one and all for your kind messages. It's been a long day and I am now somewhat tired but I do appreciate your all taking the time to respond. I will be packing the Beige Beauties because they help - and that is what matters. It's already very muddy up there and with the heavy rain they are expecting tonight and tomorrow morning I suspect I won't be able to stagger too far from base. No matter, I will have my Kindle, my puzzle book, I am currently charging my MP3 player and I have packed me spex. Apparently they have a 'phone charging lorry - ye gods! You drop off your phone, they do the necessary and keep it safe. Mr DD, however, will hopefully have the time of his life. I really hope that proves to be the case. DD

i was offered sugery to both hands for carpel tunnel and .....refused it, lost weight didnt help but for me i get keloid scarring when i have surgery so i prefer the restricted use of my hands to the risk of losing what i have. have you tried wrist supports can be a bit difficult to put on (with teeth at times) but i had some made years ago during a twin pregnancy and they really did help reduce the symptoms at night. well have you also made sure youve booked a ticket on the ark yet and packed your water wings i know hydrotherapy good for our joints but i dont think this weather is quite what they mean lol
