Hello all, long time since i last showed up on here, our situations have'nt really improved for Gill and i since my last appearance.
Off the anti-tnf basically as i've been told the damage is done and enbrel and humira just were'nt doing what they were supposed to, think my old friend is starting to show more of an appearance since coming off them but it was what i expected. Now on fentynal 50mcg/h patch's now plus paracetamol as the 25's did'nt cut it so see how i go on. Another old freind 'clinical depression' keeps rearing its ugly head but as least since i did my Cognitive behaviour therapy i'm not suicidal now but still have a lot of off days. Hypertension is being a swine of late was 170/115 on thursday needless to say gp has given me more meds to try sort it out, thought i was going to stroke out like my old mum at on point.
My wife Gill is still waiting for a re-replacement on the right knee botch up (my opinion) now her surgeon wont touch her with a twenty foot barge pole a/ because of high warfarin dosage b/ she now suffers from atrial fibrillation to add insult to injury. She currently awaiting a august appt at leeds general to see if they are willing to do a angiogram (doncaster dont do them and apparently he more happy if she goes to leeds).
Anyway enough of our problems hope you all reasonably okay considering what we all have to put up with. What i'm after is personal reviews on the mangar inflatable bath seat. Gill had the bath chair that was raised by battery and hydraulics but that seized up,besides it was too big for me too use as i could'nt lay down (only a small bath, dont think it standard size). So has anyone on here actually used a inflatable bath seat and what are your opinions on them, looked at mangar website but always feel dubious of 'testimonials' they put up.
Thanks for reading and take care all
Steve

I have a bath lift (Think it's a Neptune) supplied. I've used it and its predecessor for over 20 years. Do you specifically want to lie down in the bath Steve? Sorry, I'm in a rush. I'll pop back later.

well not exactly lie down flat, not possible with my spine these days worse luck but near enough to have a damn good soak along the length of my body to base of my head.

I have no experience of bath seats. ( I do miss a good soak in the bath though!! ) I just wanted to wish you and your wife well. You certainly both are going through the mill.

    Take care

Hello again! Right, well, first off I'm sorry things don't sound to brilliant for either you or your wife. It must all be pretty stressful for you both.

As I said, mine's a bath lift - the sort that has a seat and a rigid back rest. I do know someone on here had one of the inflatable ones (can't remember who) but I don't think she rated it highly.

One thing you might try, as I see you live in Doncaster - the William Merritt Centre, based at St Mary's Hospital, Armley, Leeds has all sorts of aids and adaptions, including bath lifts, which you can try out. (Well, a dry run, as it were  ) Anyone can go in during their open days but, for OT advice, you'd be advised to make an appointment. I've checked their website, though, (http://www.williammerrittleeds.org/default.aspx?page=3832) and they only seem to do the bath lifts like mine. That, in itself, would tell me something as I'd expect them to have an inflatable one if they rated them.

Alternatively, you could ring your local D.I.A.L. and see if they can help.
    Good luck!

hi Steve. Sorry that both you and your wife are having such a tough time.
I hope things start to get better one way or another soon.
The LGI is a great place for the heart specialists.. I hope she gets in soon.
My wife is under them at the heart failure clinic.

I wish you both the very best, sorry I can't advise on the bath thing, we have a wet room shower

Many thanks for all your replys and best wishes and a big hi to Barbara :D i remember you and mellman well for the terrific amount of support you gave when my depression was at a all time low (hope you both forgive me  in particular mell as started to have regular pm sessions back in 2010 with him for a short time which i sure were good for us both, then familiy issues and health stuck the boot in and i dropped off the scene so to speak).
Re the bathing problem think i'm going to end up ringing the mangar north-east rep and arrange a demo and chat at some point in the near future as at least we'll get to try the product out.Watch this space as they say
To tjt6768 thanks for the info re LGI its good to know they have an excellant rep,Gills appt is 20th August and i'm trying to arrange with my GP to somehow go with her in the medicar transport or whatever they provide (Doncaster has stopped patients taking anyone with them unless from a carehome or similar i believe), think she needs the moral support plus she does find it difficult talking to stangers and remembering all that has gone off resulting that i and family sometimes get half a story.
    take care all
    Steve :D
