Elaine, thecat, is going for her first rituximab infusion tomorrow, Wednesday, and would welcome some pocket dwellers. This is in spite of my warnings about biscuit crumbs, smelly cheese and garlic and the dangers of alcohol spillages.

Good luck, Elaine. Take a lump hammer with you to quieten some of the noisy ones. I'll be there.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I'll be there. I'll decant the fizz into a thermos in an effort to keep the spillages to a minimum. Good luck, thecat, I hope all goes well. Take a book - it's gonna be a long day! DD

    Hello Elaine

Really good luck with your infusion tomorrow. As a fellow "Rituximaber" my top tips are not to be embarrassed to take with you anything which will make sitting for a long time more comfortable - I take a cushion and my hot water bottle for my back and a good selection of magazines and puzzle books. I also take my MP3 player which means I can "tune out" from what's going on around me and relax a bit or even doze off. I know it will be a long day for you - when they say "be prepared to stay all day, they really do mean it - but I am sure you will be very well looked after and hopefully there will be others there you can talk to which makes the time go quicker.

    Really good luck Elaine.

    Will be thinking of you.

Hi Everyone, Thank you all so much for your support (dont know how I managed to sneak you all into hospital without anyone noticing).
Infusion went well, no bad reactions really just my blood pressure dropped quite dramatically in the first hour !!! that scared me a bit but I was advised to drink loads & by the time I left it was ok.
It was a long day, got to hosp 10.30 & didnt leave hospital till 5.30.Im absolutely drained & feel a bit sickly ,didnt sleep too well either.
However my day went over not too bad I had a lovely elderley gentleman (83yrs) next to me for a couple of hours & he chatted to me nonstop, bless him.I really wanted to sleep
but felt so sorry for him as he obviously doesnt get much company so felt I had to make an effort.
Just popped on here for a few minutes but really need to go back to bed now.Im aching from head to foot (especially the osteo in hips)from sitting in a chair for 7hrs yesterday. The steroid they gave me hasnt worked yet(they never have much effect on me).I really feel like I've been though the mill,be back on when feeling a bit better. Thanks again for the support xxx

Rest as much as you can over the next couple of days, that's just as important as the infusion itself. Take care. DD

We were all wearing our invisibility cloaks.

The BP thing must have been a bit scary and the old man a bit wearying. That was so unselfish of you to put his needs first.

I hope the resting is helpful and the ritux too.

    Hi Elaine,

So sorry I missed signing up for pocket duties earlier this week, but I'm always here in spirit! Congrats for getting through the infusion; perhaps the next one will seem a bit easier now that you know what to expect. The elderly gentleman you mention reminds me of a lovely chap I met once while having IV steroids, who took a bit of a shine to me because I reminded him of his granddaughter! I hope you're starting to feel less achy now.

    Best wishes,
    Phoebe
