Hello Paulch, it's lovely to hear from you again but I am sorry about the gout. Mr DD gets bouts of it occasionally, always in a big toe, but he has not had a fever alongside. He takes diclofenac for a few days and that sorts it - have your tried those? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I would go back to the doctor to check you havent got an infection. Occasionally gout can turn into inflammatory arthritis with repeated attacks, meds such as colchinine are often prescribed for gout. Cherries are also reported to help.

Hello again, paulch. I know nothing about gout so I've just looked it up on one of AC's factsheets (http://www.arthritiscare.org.uk/AboutArthritis/Conditions/Gout) and I see that a raised temperature can accompany it.
As for the naproxyn, always take it with food and, if it still upsets your stomach, get something else instead. I hope it eases off soon.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Paulch
i think gout can be like other inflammatory arthritises and you can get a fever with it.
If you don't already you can take paracetamol to reduce the temp.
I think the uric acid test is a good idea.

HI All, i just been back to docs and was not good news, my uric acid level was 8 far to high while having a gout attack, i have been put on Allopurinol 100mg and Colchicine 500. my Left stroke side foot with gout is looking very swollen ,and it looks like i may have some big toe joint damage.so xrays later.
Has anyone here had gout that has damaged a joint and what can be done.?0 -
Hello Paulch
Don't suffer from gout myself, but my husband does from time to time.
Have never found the trigger but he just takes Naproxen for a couple of days and then it eases off. When it was really bad some years back, it was found that his blood pressure pill was the cause and so his pills were changed. Have a word with your doctor just in case one of your medications are making it worse. Hubby also has a cream which he rubs in when it is really troublesome.
Hope the pain eases off soon.
