hi everyone
at my last rhuemy appointment I had lots of blood taken and one was check on my liver ....I'm guessing this a standard test to check medication isn't doing any damage?
I got my results today and its slightly raised the rhuemy told me its not enough to cause her any concern at the moment but they wanted to redo it.
the thing I'm worried about is I only start treatment in April and the bloods were done at the end of June so its raised to over the normal range in six weeks which seems quick to say people can take arthritis medication for years no trouble. I'm worried in case it goes even higher between now and my next appointment and if it does what do they do?
is it a case of change the tablet or do they change you to injections? also has anyone else had an abnormal result so soon after starting treatment?
I don't smoke or drink and eat healthy so would not be lifestyle effecting it. plus I'm 27.
thanks in advance

What are your figures? My hospital starts getting concerned if mine rise above 50 but they usually are around 18 - 25. I had problems when I was on enbrel but never felt a thing, it was only the bloods that showed the trouble. What meds are you taking? In the early days when I was on meth etc they were done on a monthly basis - it's taken me sixteen years to get to the luxury of three-monthly meds! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi, normally docs dont worry till the results get over 10 x the normal limit. If it is a med causing it then as soon as the med is stopped it will return to normal.
Otherwise you are being monitered and are in good hands. Try not to worry. The liver is the only organ able to renew and repair itself.0 -
Thanks for the replies
My level was 49 I started on Colchicine as the rhuemy first thought I had Behcets. this did nothing to help my joint pain so they now think its a Lupus thing and im on Plaqueni and also steroids.
Does anyone know the normal limits? Is a reading of 49 onliy slightly high? Just concerns me how quick they are risen on such a short amount of time on treatment

Every hospital seems to vary on what is high and what isn't. 49 sounds slightly high to me but I am not a doc (and I've had figures in the 600s and felt fine.) I know that someone else on here takes colchinine and I hope she can help. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
