my diagnosis was not what I expected

Well I had my hosp apt today.
As I have been diagnosed with OA in other joints he was treating me for OA of my knees when I had a big flare up.
The specialist had other ideas. My xray came back with no evident signs of OA of my knees at all but he did examine them and came to the conclusion that I have Patella tracking disorder.
I have just given it a quick google and it seems I tick all of the symptom boxes.
There is no magic pill or operation to cure it, just specific exercises to strengthen the muscles around my knees and to avoid activities that cause pain. That is going to be difficult I have to say because most things cause the pain.
Thank you for your advice and support on these boards you have been great but not sure I really fit in here any more. x

How come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?

Of course you 'fit in', herestinker. If nothing else, you do have OA in other joints. I'm sorry, I know nothing about patella tracking disorder but I do hope the exercises will do the trick. Wouldn't that be wonderful? If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

You fit. You fitted when you joined and you still fit. You fit beautifully. 'Nuff said.
As for the new disorder, it may not seem as bleak as it first appears. (This is me trying to help. ) I reckon that the specific exercises will, in time, help to strengthen the muscles and that should have the welcome 'knock-on' effect of reducing the pain when you do the things that currently hurt. I hope so anyway. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Thank you for replying, you are all very kind.
Yes I do still have OA in my hands and ankles and am thankful that my knees are not OA. I will have to learn to manage the patella tracking, its not going to go away and I am told it can lead to arthritis too!
The pulling sensation I get around my knee is the tendons that have been stretched, they could be released a little and they could also clean up my knee cap and tendons, trimming away any fulffy bits (yuk)
First is a scan and a visit to the physio then back to see the consultant.
phew! How come I'm over the hill and rapidly going down it, when I don't even recall reaching the summit?0 -
Of course you must stay hopefully things will improve with your knees when you start doing the exercises to strengthen the muscles.x0
