I know that NIC is automatically paid when you are on JSA, but is it the same for ESA?

Not that it matters as I have my 30 years contributions under my belt already. I just wondered if they paid it the same as if you are on JSA.

I dont know only know that if you have enough national insurance contributoins which you obviously have, then the contributon based ESA is paid, think only for one year then it goes onto income based ESA...
Not much help but someone will be ...

ESA has both a contribution-based and an income-based element. If you have paid enough National Insurance contributions, you can receive contribution-based ESA.

If you do not qualify for contribution-based ESA, or it does not fully meet your needs, you may qualify for income-based ESA, depending on your income and capital.

When DWP award you ESA, they put you based on your NIC. The 365 days limit is if you are married or have a partner and you can still continue to be on ESA if you are still not well but not be paid only earn your NIC.

Someone else will correct if I'm wrong. I hope this helps you.

This is about NIC and the new 365 rule. I'm trying to explain that even when the income based stops being paid after a year to those who are married or live with a partner then the claimant can still continue getting NIC by staying on ESA and its WCA, while not being paid any money.

Some claimants then are like you, get both income based and contribution based. I should have said ,Then the 365.

It mentions ESA half down the page, not sure if income or contribution based. I think You are talking about the qualifying credits needed towards your state pension sorry if I've misunderstood.
    Hope that helps!
