Rest is the key, Freesia, the meds can only do so much but to be denied them must be tough. Take what you can duller-wise, if you need to sleep then do so, and I hope things ease soon. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I'm sorry I'm late onto this freesia and I hope things are a little easier today. As the others have said, rest with them elevated, ice or heat (whichever does it for you), gentle exercises and non-anti-inflammatory pain relief. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

All I can suggest is rest, I'm going through a flare up at the moment, It's been with me for a month now. You can take pain meds or anti-inflammatories (I'm having an extra boost of morphine via Oromorph) but all you can do is ride it out. Keep busy reading books or using laptop whatever you can take doing. But complete rest is the answer, sorry0

i cant take anti inflammatories either. my GP prescirbed me anti inflammatory cream as it obviously does not affect the stomach.. using that with ice/heat packs helped me when i strained my tendons and set off my FM a couple of weeks ago. to much clapping at an elton john concert meant i lost use of my left arm for a week.....0

Oh Freesia
I do sympathise with you, they took my antiinflams off me for a while, and boy did I know about it.
I used to rest, used ice pack on the painful joints...hot wheat cushion on my neck.
I do hope it all eases up for you very soon, but I would go and ask your GP for something if it gets too bad.
You take care xxLove

Hello Freesia
I am so sorry you are struggling - I'm not able to take anti-inflamms either at the moment and I don't arf miss em.
Glad you have sunshine though - in my experience it certainly helps to lift the spirits. Hope you can find a cool spot to enjoy it and to rest.
Thinking of you, and really hoping this passes quickly.

I'm also off the anti-inflams - shall we start a club?! Not fun is it...lots more rest than you want or think you might need seems to be what I get told. What about asking for a steroid shot/ pills? It's the only thing holding me up at the mo. Lots of get well soon hugs LV xxHey little fighter, things will get brighter0

I hope you are feeling better today , Can you not get OH to fan you0 -
I can't take anti-inflammatories either. They not only affect my stomach, but give me horrendous panic attacks. It first happened with Naproxin, and Iboprofen just made me rather anxious. Then I tried the latter again at the anaesthetist's suggestion straight after my op; it was OK for four days, then I woke up thinking everyone was plotting against me and in an absolute panic; luckily I sort of realised what was going on and phoned my partner who talked some sense into me. Horrible things! But I too could do with some extra pain relief two weeks after my bilateral TKR, so I DO sympathise!!!0

Hi Freesia
sorry to hear your in a bad way. I am new to the forum but like you can't take anti-inflammatory medication. It so frustrating when doctors scratch their heads saying, its such a shame you can't take them as they work so well. Like thats any help!!
Have you tried Tramadol and paracetamol taken together. Also elevation lots of pillows not very practical but when your in chronic pain I find it helps.
Also a referral to a pain specialist, I know won't help short term but may be something for future flare ups.
Take care X0
