What the Hell is this slimey little orange turd?

http://i1219.photobucket.com/albums/dd427/TJT6768/2012-07-22154421.jpg

It has decimated my plants... Has orange body and black face and front legs.

I'm far from green fingered but I had some lovely ivory pixie things growing growing nicely..
:x

Sorry I'm not about much, head is all over the place, which is why I've come to sit in the sunshine..
Bloody slimey horrible........
Oh, and the other plant I had growing (no idea what they're called) was full of red beetles

Aah Tony, that's a Slimus Dwarfus Orangeus Turdious.
Quite rare I believe, and probably protected. Lucky you

Slug. Some are grey: some are orange. Drown it in beer. (Cheap, nasty beer, not the good stuff.)
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

agree with sticky..........drown the buggers in cheap beer..........if you can, create some little beer "moats" around your favourite plants to keep the buggers off..........shallow lids from margarine/ butter pots work ok xx

I would have said it was a slug. Haven't looked close enough at them to see if they had legs. I was thinking of putting out beer traps but thought they would be well watered down with all the rain.

I think it's probably some kind of lavae.. Bloody horrible little things..
Tried finding them on the web but no success.
I wonder if they're the lavae of the red beetle things that were on the other plant..
Oooh, just remembered.what plants they are, lillies.. Lol
Told you I'm no gardener..

Appreciate that they're horrid , but please don't kill them ; couldn't you just move them away from your plants or fling them over the wall into the neighbours garden ? Jillyb

Your spot on Tony and glad to see your about a little more,
The red beatle that picture you showed is its lava and the lava does more damage than the beatle. The do go for lots of plants but love lillies and such plants that come from bulbs. You cant get shut of these unless you use a proper afids type poison. You get it from any garden centre about 7 or 8 pounds but will last a season. you need to kill of these little buggers by spraying the plants dont forget to try ang get on the stems and under the leaves. they can make a real mess of you plants mate so get shut. Your plants will grow ok next year but you will need to spray them a couple of times as they are growing anfd that will do the trick.
    Have a look at this

    Cheers Tony

I highly recommend checking the plants, especially anything grown from bulb, these things will destroy them and quite quickly too. I've blasted them to kingdom come with some bug killing stuff.. Horrible things.. I was sooooooo proud of them lilys lol.. I can never grow anything nice
Got some kind of blight on the roses now too, and the spuds have potato blight.
Not a lucky year in the Tony garden.... Strawberries were devoted by something that wasn't me gggrrrrr...

Could be larva from lily beetle. If so, they eat your plants overnight and leave a yucky black gunge behind. If you see red beetles on your plants get them off - quick!

I'm disappointed in my strawberries this year.... They grew and ripened at the size of a pea!!! My apples and blueberries haven't grown either. I do have a ton of blackberries popping over the fence from the allotment behind us....... Some jam making is in order :)
