MRI Scan on Spine

I have my MRI scan tomorrow. I have waited so long for this as I know it will show what the problems are in my spine.
I am having to take more and more tablets to keep the pain down to a reasonable level.
I have had one before, years ago which showed up the disc prolapse that I had at the time. I was amazed at how clear it was and how much detail it showed.
I know it is not pleasant, being enclosed in the big tube, but as long as it is not a procedure that hurts I can cope.
I vaguely remember them asking what type of music I liked for the tape (that's how long ago it was). I'm hoping for some Rod Stewart or Elton John. I wonder if they could use one of my CD's if I took one along?
I have to go 30 miles away to Cromer for the hospital. I was surprised as I thought it would be Norwich - where my specialist appointment was.

Pocket duties available for tomorrow Pollysid. When I had my last one I was asked what music I'd like and I said anything but Rap.......I got Rap.
She must have thought I'd asked for it.Either that or she just wanted to give me an experience from H*ll.0 -
Hi,
Good luck with your scan when i went i was terrified and the music was broken so i had to listen to the machine. i was in there for 15 mins which felt like an hour at least.

Music? What luxury. At Ipswich we're given massive noise-blocking headphones and that's it. I can't see why you shouldn't take your own CD just in case. The best of luck with the scan, keep your eyes closed and think happy thoughts and it will soon be over. Let us know how you get on, OK? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. I'll be there for pocket duties.
The last one I had on my spine.....not only did I not get offered music but no ear defenders either.....a couple of little ear plugs that obviously got thrown away afterwards...they were neither use nor ornament
I went to see my consultant for the result of the MRI ...he thought I might have spinal stenosis but when i had the appt he said because of my kypho scoliosis and my spine being twisted he couldnt decide one way or the other so now waiting for the back specialist.
Let us know how it goes

Count me in, PollySid. I've only ever had one. I don't remember either music or headphones but I had a broken hip at the time and was fairly out of it on morphine. I hope it goes well and quickly. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Good Luck Polly
Like DD I was given massive headphone with whatever blaring out...still not sure what I was listening to.
Let us know how it goes, and I hope you get the answers you want.Love

Thank you for your replies. My leg/back is especially bad today so I am concerned about having to lay on my back on a hard surface for any length of time. Hopefully I will get some good music to take my mind off it.0

I can understand the concern but this is a very necessary evil. Perhaps you could take some dullers an hour or so before you go? They may help to alleviate matters once you're in. I'll be thinking of you and I hope all goes well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
I can understand your feelings....tell them beforehand....they are usually very good....never know what they might come up with.
I know i cant lie flat on my back for anything because of scoliosis so they always find pillows for me
Good luck
Love
