MRI scan

I had my MRI scan on Lumbar and Thoracic spine today.
No music, just ear plugs and a sort of stand that you put your head in then they stuff 'cushions' at the side of your ears too.
It had the desired effect, although it was still noisy it was bearable.
The scanner was fascinating me all the different sounds it made. Tractor, spaceship, pneumatic drill to name but a few
I closed my eyes and relaxed and nearly dropped off to sleep regardless of the noises.
I had taken the full dose of tablets, Co-codamels and Gabapentin an hour beforehand so was well spaced out and reasonably pain free anyway.
My nose started to itch halfway through and I daren't move my hand to rub it
It took about 35 minutes so now I have to wait for an appointment from the specialist to get the results.
I asked for a copy of the scan and I have a form to fill in then they send a disc copy of some of the images. It costs £9 but I am interested to see them.
All in all it wasn't too bad an experience. I would advise anyone to close their eyes and try to relax as much as possible. I always hold a handkerchief when I go to bed so I took one with me in the scanner.
Fiddling with the hanky was something to do and felt calming (my comfort blanket I suppose  ).

Well done to you, you got through it and in some style! I agree with you about the noises, the range is astonishing isn't it? I love the pauses in between the bursts of activity when the machine is 'resting' - I always imagine it panting! Rest up now, keep up with the dullers and I hope the payback is not too bad. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Very well done. I had to have a cushion under my neck so my head was lower than my body. Not comfortable but bearable.
I've never heard of getting a disc before and have only had the print out.
I hope your appointment is soon and you find out whats going on. May0
