Hi Guys,
Hope you are all well.
Have finally been to the Rhuma and have some news.
On my visit i had scans of my feet and wrist as they are the most painfull areas but the Rhuma told me that he couldn't see much inflamation. Had an xray of my feet but they came back normal.
when i did ask on the day what he thought he couldn't really tell me as we had a blood test that was waiting for result.
Today i rang for result and been told that the Rhuma is thinking that i have inflammatory arthritis and need to do a urgent NERVES test.
Any ideas guys what and why is this?
Because im getting married so soon he didn't want to give me a big dose of steroid injections so he give me something that will give me about 1mg per day, i need to be honest i do not have the morning stiffness but when the weather is changing im in agony.
Went shopping in metro centre on saturday and was barely able to walk after a couple of hours.
Can anybody explain what is inflammatory arthritis (all i know is that it is different of RA)
Hope you are all well.

hi it what they tell us when they not sure which of the ones with inflimation you have that is where i am at moment no real name for the beast. the nerve test will be to look for dammage as you are in lot of pain they do like to keep on top of things they treat a lot of them the same so he can start you on medication and that should help if not make sure you tell them and take pics if you get any swelling i never have any when see rhummy good luck valval0

Hey Cindy,
I might be wrong but I understand inflammatory arthritis to be arthritis where no rheumatoid factor shows in your blood. It's treated in a similar way to RA but they tend to keep it as a broad diagnosis as Val says until it/ if it ever shows signs of definitely being something else. It's how I'm diagnosed too, I had a genetic test and carry the gene responsible for a few arthritis' but mine has not followed any specific route.
I was shot full of steroids to get me down the aisle and at my reception everybody kept joking and telling me I could stop shaking now...only I couldn't it was a side effect but nobody realised that! Easy to say but take wedding organising in bite size pieces and rest up enough so you can enjoy the day an get to the end of it!! Of course, the other thing to remember is to have a magical time!
Good luck, love LV xxHey little fighter, things will get brighter0 -
that make sense to me.
I have read somewhere that inflammatory arthritis can create some heart illness, and may be cause by blood transfusion.
Last year i have been diagnosed with coronary arteries spasms and 6 years ago i had 6 units of blood transfusion, pfff i dont know if this is linked but it is a lot of coincidences.
The Rhuma did not want to give me a full shot of steroids as he didn't want me to have any side effect.
I can deffinitely feel a difference in morning as i don't have the stiffness but as for the pain it seems that as soon as i stop doing things the pain want to remind me that it still there, is this normal? i dont know
I am just thinking that i could be worse, and hope this will not increase too quickly

I think there may be some truth in inflammatory arthritis potentially causing heart problems but I don't think it happens often. I've not heard of the blood transfusion thing.
It's all too easy to scare ourselves when trawling the net. Stick to bona fide sites such as here or NHS. There's a lot of false info out there.
You know, that isn't a lot of coincidences - only two. It's just possible there may be a connection but, even if there were, what difference does it make? Things are as they are.
Steroids won't take everything away, just mask it a bit. Try not to overdo things. You need to be good for that weddingIf at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

hi Sticky
It is true, the net is scary, and it is not easy to rest as im self employed and iron for people all day.
I think the pain sometimes is hitting hard but its nothing i can do really.
The wedding is not long away, im so please.

Yes my understanding was as the others - something is causing the pain and inflammatory arthritis is an umbrella term. They may narrow it down later.
Good luck with the weddingTwenty-something mother, home educating my wonderful son and currently TTC.
My particular flavour of arthritis is yet to be confirmed0 -
Ironing sounds like a very repetetive activity and arthritis tends to thrive on that sort of thing. I don't know 'how' you work but, if possible, it would be better to keep taking breaks and, in the breaks, moving your arm in the opposite direction to the repeated actions, stretching the opposite muscles.
It might be that you can't take such breaks but even just walking round the room, or sitting for a while if you stand to iron, would help. These days, I either iron only 4-5 items at a session or, I leave the iron there all day, do 2-3, go away and do some other jobs, do 2-3 more and so on.
Do you take any pain meds?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

My understanding is that inflammatory arthritis is the umbrella term too and covers RA, Psoriatic Arthritis, Lupus etc. A good few of us have had a diagnosis of inflammatory arthritis and some later get diagnosed with a more specific illness, in my case, seronegative RA.
Good luck with planning your wedding and all the best with starting on treatment.0
