Hi...hope you are all well as can be.

I have started having really bad shoulder pain just lately (something else to add to the mix). It hurts to put seatbelt on, open drawers, reach to get things etc and its getting worse day by day. Its at the top of my arm where the socket meets the shoulder at the front. It feels like it is going to go, if you get what I mean. Just wondered if anyone else gets this.

Hello deedee, that sounds miserable. My shoulders hurt when I flare but that tends to be more to the back than the front. I'm struggling with my rib muscles at the moment as I've strained them - is there any chance you could have done that with your shoulder? Have you tried rubbing in Voltarol or Deep Heat or Tiger Balm (the red one)? Thay can help, as can heat. I hope it eases soon but if not then maybe a trip to the GP could be in order just to check things out. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Thanks for replying DD....I think the problem I've got is because I've not had a solid diagnosis yet I don't know what I'm fighting so don't know how to deal with all the extra's that keep getting thrown in. I know I am alot worse now than I was when all this kicked off a year ago now. Got my second opinion rheumy appointment on 6th sept so hopefully will have some answers.

    Hi Dee

I have shoulder problems. Not pleasant is it? Do you think you may have damaged your rotator cuff? Have you had a few falls over the years and fallen on that shoulder by any chance?

The happiest people don't have the best of everything. They just make the best of everything.

rotor cuff could be it but also brachial nerve from swelling in neck and shoulder joints. there may be minimal wear and tear and it can take 18 months to heal if its been aggravated by injury or flare.

im living it with both sides but still able to drive car cos i wont let this dumb disease trap me in a house

good luck and hope it doesnt get too bad

I had something very simular and went to the Gp who wrongly diagnosed me with a frozen shoulder.
What I did have after an MRI scan was Athritis in the neck and I had spurs growing on the shoulder that was trapping my nerves. I have since had that operated on and it is better than it was. But because it was left so long it caused me to have a dropped shoulder blade due to lack of use of my arm.
Worth a trip to the GP I think.
    Good Luck xx

    Hi Dee
I cant help with the shoulder problems......but I do remember what it is like not to have a diagnosis and what a difference it makes when you get one
I hope you get one your next visit...then you'll know what you are facing

My ra started with shoulder pain. To cut a very long story short, I eventually had a steroid injection into it under ultrasound, along with various other steroids for the rest of me. Does the pain move down into your arm?

Sorry for going of topic but elsa's post brought back a memory to me from the 60's, I went to buy a new coat and tried on one I really liked, but the shoulder seam was well passed my shoulder, I asked the assistant why and she said it was the new fashion of dropped shoulder :o

I asked my sister to try it on when I got home and it fit her perfectly, she was 5ft 7 and I was 5ft so obviously it was to big for me, no way you could take clothes back them days unless they were damaged.

Dee, I have pain in my upper arm when I get a flare- up but not my shoulder, its agony trying to wash my hair or pull down my clothes, so I end up just wearing pyjama pants if there is no-one coming round, hope you get it sorted.

    Hi,

I have the arm pain it's not good feels like someone is pulling on it all day
not pleasant and some days i have to lift it with my left arm to get it in position and the worse thing is i'm right handed.

So i have been thinking about teaching myself to write with the left hand as
that one only goes hot and cold and i get pins and needles in that one.

It's all due to neck osteoarthritis with bone spurs and stuff.

Hope you get your diagnosis soon it will give you peace of mind so you can come to terms with it.
