I would like people with tattoos to tell me their MRI had no effect. I have a lot of tattoos, one directly on the site. My specialist saw all my tattoos and did not mention anything. I will also have a Mirena IUS by then. Thanks.

I googled NHS Choices and this is what it said:

    Tattoos

Some tattoo ink contains traces of metal, but most tattoos are safe in an MRI scanner. Tell the radiographer immediately if you feel any discomfort or heat to your tattoo.

I have had 6 MRIs all since my mirena coil was fitted. The first one was about 8 months after and I think I did feel something but I might have been imagining it. Since then I haven't had any problems.

I have several tattoos, including a half sleeve, and had an MRI with no issues. It is usually only tattoos from back street scratchers or prison that uses low quality ink, containing metals :)
