Such a lot to tell, first off blood test showed that arthritis is active though not ever so according to nurse whatever thats means,i have put on 12lbs which is not as much as i thought, next joints were poked and prodded i have a das score of 6,she was quite alarmed at the lump on the sole of my left foot, both feet are puffy and swollen and warm,so she gets consultant in they had a discussion in front of me which i was pleased about because i knew what was going on,on thursday next week consultant is doing a scan and will drain the lump if it shows fluid and do a steroid injection (be prepared for more pocket duties) if this is not the case it could mean an op,but first i would be referred back to orthotics to see if they can do anything.I am to go back to rhemmy clinic in four weeks by that time i will have had the liver thing done,I have been given the option to double my steroids to 10mg if i cant manage but only for the next two weeks as it can affect my next das score but i have decided to cope without it (aren't i a brave girl) All in all a positive appointment ,now i going to snooze as i am a bit sore.Thank-you all for your company the noise was kept to a minimum.Mig

I do think you’re ‘a brave girl’, mig. (Well, not sure about the ‘girl’ but, hey, what’s a decade or two among friends ?)
It actually sounds quite good. The arthritis isn’t ‘ever so’ active (I guess ‘ever so’ is a very technical, medical term  ), you haven’t put on as much weight as you feared (Is celebratory chocolate called for?) and you were able to hear exactly what they are planning for you.
I hope orthotics can help and no op will be needed, also that the liver thing will be OK. Rest and recover is, I think, the order of the day.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi mig,
I'm pleased your appointment went well.
I'll be in your pocket for the steroid injection, it's nice to get out
Wishing you well,

That sounds a positive appointment Mig, I am pleased. I think you're wise to manage without the steroids and I hope the lump can be sorted without an operation. I understand the post-app tiredness, these things are always draining (and painful what with all the prodding). I hope you are sleeping now. DD (who is trying desperately hard to stay awake but may well give in to the snoozles)Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Poked and prodded by a lab rat, well done for surviving! It sounds like a fair outcome all round, here is hoping the lump is drainable and doesn't need an op...ready for further duties in the pocket. Love LV xxHey little fighter, things will get brighter0

Hi Mig
Just caught up with your post and was pleased to read that your appointment went well but no wonder you needed to rest when you got home.
It sounds as though it's going to be a busy few weeks for you so I will try to keep more up to date and jump in your pocket for your future appointments.
Take care and keep your poor feet up
Love & (((((((())))))

Oh Mig I wish things were easier for you. I also wish they weren't so "hung up" on the DAS score numbers as a basis for making important decisions about what next. Seems barking to me that having done a DAS test, the nurse was still using just the results of the blood test to decide how active your arthritis is - and according to the National Rheumatoid Arthritis Society, a DAS of over 5.1 indicates "severe disease activity" :? ). I really do feel for you.
I will be there too for pocket duties when needed and really hope you manage on the lower pred dose. Speaking as one who is fighting hard to cut down my pred dose, I really admire your courage.
Thinking of you.
