Well my TKR has kicked me into re-evaluation, I know my weight hasn’t caused my OA or RA but I know it doesn’t help and like a lot of folk I have tried every diet on the planet lost some weight and gained more . Over the last 15 weeks I have had lots of thinking time and for the first time in my life I realise that I REALLY do need to take control, so I took myself off to my Dr and she put me forward for the Why Weight program, I had my first session today and it was good is anyone else on this program

Sounds like a good plan. I have had a google and the sessions last around 6 months. I believe to be referred you have a BMI of around 40. I read that no particular diet is suggested to follow but lots of discussion, some one to one, and learning ways to look at eating and oneself differently. Some people seem to have had a rather long wait from being referred to receiving a first appointment unfortunately.

I wish you well with this, it is not easy but with determination you will succeed.

Good luck with your Why Weight diet, I'm sure you will do well on the programme. Don't think we have got such a scheme in my area though.

I wish you well too. We are all (except my skinny daughter) on a diet in our house and making and serving much smaller portions and no bics, crisps and cakes in the cupboard during the holidays.

They run 2 different lengths, 6 months for people with a BMI below 40 and 12 months for BMI over 40, I'm a 12 mth girl, it's 1 on 1 weekly weigh in with my mentor for 4 months then monthly if I feel confident enough. I also see the nurse monthly and my GP gets a report no hiding places now like when I went to a slimming club.
All areas in the country do this I think, I only had to wait 4 weeks from seeing my GP to my first meeting

I sincerely wish you well over the next year with your "project" for the new you. :D In your weaker moments, of which I am sure there will be a few "wobblies" however determined you are, please call in here and I shall support you if I am around and others will definitely do that too.

To spur you on, my daughter got her weight down and has kept it off for eight years. She did not have as big a goal as perhaps you are aiming for but she is very proud of herself and quite rightly too. She did it on her own for a time but when she could came to a stalemate period where the weight would not come off she joined WW and since reaching her ideal weight goal she attends the weigh ins religiously and has not had to pay to do this because she has kept within her range of ideal weight for her height.

    Power to you, :D
