Hi Jilly.
What type of injection was it? what it directly into the affected area?
I get a steriod injection into my knee once every 4 months and it usually lasts a couple of months.
I also had another injection a few weeks ago into my bum  but has only lasted a few weeks.
I do find that the ones directly into the affected area (I get one into my knee) really does help at lot.0 -
Hi Debrakelly , It was into my bum , i have also had them in my joints, they really helped in the beginning but after 18 months of every 3 months they stopped having much effect . I was hoping this one might help for a few weeks at least so perhaps it might. thanks for the advise ......jillyx0

How long they last and even whether or not they work at all seems to be an individual thing, jilly. Everything 'steroid' works wonderfully for me. The 'bum jabs' success tends to depend on how bad I was in the first place. Also, the more you have, the less they work. I suggest you just enjoy it while it does last.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Jilly,
I'm always quite good at going onto hyper mode once a general steroid like that kicks in and wasting the benefit by tiring myself out. You aren't really supposed to have them in less than 6 weeks apart so I guess from that you could infer that they are supposed to last about that long...as Sticky wisely pointed out though, it's all rather individual and dependent on a number of factors. There are two main brands, one does nothing for me, the other does lots. Sometimes I feel no benefit til my second dose, sometimes I don't need the second shot!

Hey Jilly. I have had six "bum ones" the last only a week ago. I feel now that they dont last as long as they used to, however, the first one last year was amazing. As a few of the gang have said, it differs for everyone. They are defo worth a try so hopefully you will get a good few weeks out of it.

As the others have said, it really can vary. I usually get them when I'm in a flare and it curbs the flare and then I'm back to my version of normal again. Glad you're feeling good right now. I hope it lasts for you too! Try not to overdo it. I know it can seem hard when you're feeling good as you want to do anything but I used to do this after the injection and then burnt out much more quickly.

I had one (a steroid injection!) in the bum just before the Olympics so that I could get through my duties OK. It lasted about 3 weeks and it did help. I still had moments of extreme fatigue but they lasted shorter amounts of time and were less often. I also swelled less - always a bonus! However, I have developed a worrying numbness in my left foot since it wore off and I am suspicious that I did too much standing up, walking etc whilst I was feeling good and Inam paying now. The Medics aren't sure what is causing it but the chief suspectnis tendonitis so would be really careful about doing too much while it feels good. Enjoy the respite while it lasts :-)0
