NI Minister lobbied on biologics.

Arthritis Care lobbied Edwin Poots MLA, Northern Ireland Minister for Health, yesterday, on behalf of people with severe Rheumatoid Arthritis who are waiting for access to biological (anti-TNF) treatments. Arthritis Care Policy Adviser Steve McBride, consultant rheumatologist Anita Smyth, and patient Caitriona Roberts, along with representatives for people with p...soriasis and Crohn’s disease, urged the Minister to ensure that people who needed the highly effective treatments were able to get them without unnecessary delays.

Speaking after the meeting Steve McBride said ‘The Minister – and Assembly Health Committee Vice Chair Jim Wells, who led the delegation – fully recognise the benefits of these treatments. There has been a very real improvement in access for people with Rheumatoid Arthritis over the last year, as a result of the Minister’s efforts and of our previous lobbying. What we want to see is extra funding being made permanent and people who need these treatments having access to them as soon as possible and in line with best practice in the rest of the UK.

Refreshing to read. Thank you :D

Elna :D
