more tasty than cumberland and black pudding sausages and more magical than Messiaen's Turangalila symphony? I had the sausages for my tea tonight and then watched and listened to the symphony on BBC 4. What a night! I'm off to bed now.

The Cumberland and black pudding sausages sound delicious, Ichabod, so I'm glad you enjoyed them. It's making me hungry just to think about them, especially as I'm trying to lose weight at present, so sausages aren't allowed
The symphony isn't one I'm familiar with, but I found this version of it:

pickled onion sandwiches and Elvis Presley singing Jail House Rock.Mig0

How about one of the famous ichabod's pies at the Cane and Able :?:
I'm sure that Fat Kev would sing to us in the absence of any other music.
Am I the only one who misses the pub and the fun we used to have there :?:0 -

Addendum
I slept like a top last night. Very little pain and very few aches and
not much stiffness when I woke this morning.
Distraction is an excellent pain management tool.0 -
That's the one, Joan.
The whole concert was brilliant. Watch out for the final piece after
the symphony. I'd listen to the concert again today, but I'm out
to lunch and there is one day cricket on tv.
Is rehab 44 still absent?0 -
Rehab44 is absent from here, but is still busy in his inimitable way on another forum.0

Not one of my best late composers, The Turangalila Symphonie is supposed to be of love death and christ i think Olivier Messiaen is not one of my best late composers and being french doesent help him. I always call this peice the mess or refer to it as that really busy peice. I just read up on it, written for the boston pops in the 40s and revised in the 90s Sausages are out since the last heart attack and black pud well i can smell it from here
take care

Hello Joan,
I've seen some of r44's posts on t'other forum,
but dont think them half as interesting and/or
entertaining as the ones he used to bang up on here.0 -
Hello Colin,
Different orchestras give different performances and the one
the other night by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain
was an absolute blast.
Feel for you about the sausage situation; they are definitely
my favourite fruit.0 -

Hello again Ichabod
There isn't the same sense of community on t'other forum either. I think r44's posts were so funny and entertaining on here, so wish he would return. ( also Delboy and Livinglegend )0 -
Shostakovich's 5th does it for me, Brahms 2nd piano concerto in B minor too. I've never tried Messiaen, perhaps it's time to remedy that. I will cheerfully donate any pork sausages that come my way, I can't stand 'em. Venison and beef versions though - scrummy! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0
