Travel Insurance After TKR

My partner and I are tentatively planning a week away in the sun for November. I should be recovered enough by then to really enjoy it, and I already have an 'Orthocard' in case I set off the airport security scanners. But what about travel insurance? Are companies going to be willing to insure me relatively soon after two TKRs, and if so, are they likely to up the premium horrendously? Which are good ones? Are there any specialist ones for these sorts of problems, and would they be better? Do any of you know?

Try...Arthiritis Care, if you ask the lovely help-line staff, will probably be able to give you a few names of insurance companies..

I had already booked my holiday before my knee surgery and then trying to change/alter my insurance was a "bit of a faff" BUT it can be done...

Traveling wise, ""always be honest"" about the surgery and any medical conditions you have, because you never know what may happen (fingers crossed & god willing nothing will happen).... but it's better to be safe than sorry....

I think I had to pay an additional premium of £12-13 to cover the OA in both knees... which was quite reasonable...

I'm not sure of your age...?? But there is a TV advert at the moment of over 50's who cover a large range of illness & operations as standard...?
    Good Luck & Happy holidays

    Hi Helen
We use World First travel insurance, I haven't had any ops yet but my hubby has had knee surgery, not a TKR...and I was recommended them by a friend that has a new hip and knee, they are brilliant, and if you ring them up they are very nice, will advise you and give you a price.
You have a lovely holiday x
    Love
    Barbara

Thanks so much everyone...and loovechocolate, glad my question helped you too! I've made a note of all names and will check them out when we know when and where we're going - hoping for a late cheap deal so may leave it for a bit.

Just spoke to the bank thank goodness for 24hr banking couldn't wait until tomorrow was so worried, My knee is covered but I did need to tell them, thank you for asking this question never thought.
So looking forward to our little break been a rough 4 months with the knee and house renovations, my consultant said he wouldn't agree to me flying until 6 months so sailing from Southampton at 4 months - perfect cheap and 5*

Oh, maybe I'd better check with my consultant! Never thought of that. November will only be 4 months after my TKRs, and I know it's legally OK to fly, and I think my hospital blurb says it is too, but maybe I'd better ask.

So helping each other as usual here. :D
