Hi everyone, hope you are all pretty well.
Just wondering if anyone using MTX has experienced nausea along with dizziness, i took my 2nd 10 mg dose which was on tuesday ( i was great after the 1st ) and i wasnt too bad until the friday evening and i ended up in bed at 7.30 has the room was spinning and i felt i was going to faint so i had to lie down. I was like this until the next morning , and now i feel so lethargic and tired that i could sleep the clock round. I love being out and about and i am not one to sit around normally.
What im a little worried about is that my dose on Tuesday coming has been upped by 2 tablets, and im dreading taking them, can anyone tell me if the side effects lessen off cause i cant put up with that sensation every week.
Thanks
Lynn xx

Hi, poor you, that's not a good thing is it? The side effects can lessen as the body adjusts to the higher dose but it may not happen that quickly. Tiredness and nausea are common side effects, occasionally I get a bout of lethargy one or two days after my meth injection but it does pass. Meth is a powerful drug (even at the relatively small dosage levels we take) and for some it can be a real trial. Some take their dose in the late afternoon or close to bed time so that they sleep through the initial yukkiness, that may help matters. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. It's a pleasure, I know life with the meds is not easy sometimes. I've had another thought: how about splitting your dose? That can be another way to ameliorate the side-effects and the person to talk to about that is your rheumatology nurse. How much FA are you taking? That is something that could be upped to help matters. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi Lynnmick
I am sorry that you are feeling as you are with the meth and I hope your body can get used to it soon.
I am on meth and I think I may have feltt a little sickly at first but after few weeks I was ok and I have now been taking it a very long time.
Feeling sick and dizzy is not a nice feeling I hope it passes soon

Hi Lynnmick - I have been on MTX for a year now. At first I felt quite queasy for a couple of days after the tablets, but that has settled and only happens occasionally. I take MTX on a Tuesday evening.
Funnily enough, on a Sunday afternoon a couple of weeks ago I was suddenly very dizzy and feeling as if I was going to faint every time I moved. I felt very unwell and all I could do was lie down. My husband was concerned enough to stay at home with me the next day. It was a few days before I really felt OK(ish) again.
As with everything else, I put it down to RA, but I now wonder if it was anything to do the the meds although I don't know why it suddenly happened after a year. Having said that, I have had vertigo in the past and it was very similar to that.
It has been a one-off so far so perhaps it will be for you too. I do hope so.
Wishing you well - Susie0 -
Don't worry, the side effects will pass but it will take a couple of months for the Meth to start working properly and for your body to adjust.
But it will be worth it in the end.
For sickness, I had some ginger nuts on stand by, but Diet Coke is also really good.0 -

Hi everyone,
thanks for your kind words it really helps a lot, i will bear in mind all of the tips like the ginger biscuits and cola, and also i shall bear in mind about asking my rheumy nurse about splitting the dose or upping the folic acid, i must admit that i googled about folic acid dosage, and some people are on folic acid 6 days a week they said.
Any way im still dreading my 3rd dose, but ive had my orders off hubby that i should try it again just to eliminate wether i just had something else and not effects from the tablets, so im goin to take them and see what happens, then phone my rheumy nurse if i have too .
Thanks again for all your advice and tips , much appreciated.
